Hi,

So, this means that you did not test the PMDG 777 series (not compatible with v5 hf2, but there is a work-around to have it install on v5 hf2)?

Cheers,

Chris Truong.

The 777 isn't on v5??

Nope, not officially.

There is a work-around to install, but PMDG will not support the work-around.

Cheers,

Chris Truong.

PMDG's 777 is working flawlessly on 5.1 if anyone is interested. It's dead easy to install.

Also, there has been a private beta release of AS, they seem to get it working even with the issues 5.1 currently has, but i don't know whether it will become public in its current state or only when 5.1 HF1 comes out, but anyway, good news that progress is being made.

Good to hear. Did you install it “into the sim“, or via add-on.xml?

Can only be installed "normally". I just edited the registry and changed P3Dv4's path so it points to v5, installed and removed the registry entry.

Good information, could you point me to where, or indicate the registry path where the key can be found in order to re-direct it?

EDIT: Disregard just found it.

Hi,

No, I never tried triple 7 before, since p3dv5. I did it with ngxu but decided not try to port 777, think I will wait for the update that are coming soon I hope.

At least they reply to you... I've asked about Airline crew 2019 compatibility and got no answer...

Roger, thanks. I think they should change that, but that's another topic.

I must be lucky today. Am holding my breath about the election today here.

As someone who has been using P3Dv3 so far, I have bought a 1-month developer license and installed P3Dv5 on my computer for the first time after the update was released. My goal was to test the simulator. I have to say that I am not overly impressed by the weather depiction with EA on for reasons that have already been mentioned. Another problem is the lack of sunset color variations with that mode.

When I tried with EA off, I was disappointed to see flickering clouds, an overexposed ground (with lack of shadows) and dark cockpits. This is quite poor, given that it took LM over 4 months to release the update. My P3Dv3 looks much better on that front with ENVTEX/ENVSHADE. I find that the latter add-on still gives you the most realistic sunset colors - and you get nice variations. There may be a performance benefit due to DX12, but since I only have 6GB RAM on my GPU (which is not going to be enough with more complex add-ons), I have personally decided to move to P3Dv4 instead. This version may be 3 years old, but it's 64 bit, and it has reached a stable and reliable state, where most things work well, and most future add-ons will still be compatible with this version. The other advantage is that it won't be updated, so one doesn't need to worry about updates breaking functionalities with add-ons and inside the sim. (Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of progressive updates that add useful features and improve performance, but I don't like the way it has been handled by LM and Asobo with FS2020 recently).

Just a other side of the story:

I must say that I really like Prepar3d 5.1. it looks and performance really good on my system! Also with FSGRW the weather is really nice!
