October 30, 20205 yr We just barely made it into the top 20 of wishlist items. THANKS to all who voted. However, our position is tenuous, if you have not voted and you care that the community has the opportunity to fix the premium and deluxe airplanes please give this thread you vote. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/unlock-fsarchive-files-for-premium-and-deluxe-aircraft/297881/8 Thank you

I believe it would, yes, although perhaps not as part of the official download. It's already possible to extract the cfgs from an encrypted aircraft. However, my experiments in overriding them with a community mod have so far been unsuccessful; from what I can see it looks like if there's an fsarchive present the usual mod methods don't work, but I've not done a thorough set of experiments with it yet, as I've been busy with other projects. Hopefully I won't need to, though. Edited October 30, 20205 yr by kaosfere

Makes sense to me, the Premium aircraft probably expect an encrypted file to de-crypt, putting an un-encrypted file in its place shouldn't work.

This doesn't seem to be the case as far as liveries and a aircraft.cfg where a fsarchive is in place. James

If you're talking about the "variation" method that's used by most of the add-on liveries (like in my Mooney "paintkit" here) it's because that configuration doesn't actually overwrite anything in the VFS -- it adds new content that refers to the stock content. One of the things that I have been wanting to try is to see if there's a way to piggyback on that method for more comprehensive changes. I haven't seen any documentation about it, but there's lots of documentation missing for everything. If you are talking about liveries that install into the aircraft itself by modifying the existing aircraft.cfg, can you send me a link? I'd be interested in seeing how that's been done.
