December 17, 20205 yr Go get your feet wet guys...v1.1.1 is out at Flightsim.to! Water skiing! Wheels now have buoyancy and the water hardens with speed. Widened wheelbase. Propeller 3D model enlarged to match the 82" Whirlwind GA-200L-STOL prop. Further improved King Shocks dampening and off-road suspension behaviour. Propeller angle changed from 15 to 16 degrees, giving more power, higher cruise speed and less engine redlining. Bushwheel drag decreased by about 8% (was too high), further increasing cruise speed (120kts at sea level, 110kts higher up). Weight increased to 650lbs, taking into account the new engine and bigger tires. Mains moved forward a few inches…harder to go nose over. Oil warms up less quick and cools down much slower at idle speeds. More black and more smooth Bushwheels (but the treads are still there). Removed cowling Transformer logo reflection from all liveries but BumbleBee (oops). Increased “Edge Performance” branding font size on the cowling. Raised multiplayer aircraft model a few inches to align with the runway better.
December 17, 20205 yr Splish Splash, holy moly. What fun this is. Love the water effects. Thanks Gravel, a fun fun fun plane. This will do nicely until a true float version arrives. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
December 17, 20205 yr At Eye Dr. Office reading this. Eyes dilated....drive home will be fun.... Hopefully will be back to normal when I take my 1st water skiing trip with her.🙂 As if my flying isn't bad enough WITHOUT impaired vision. December 29, 20205 yr "If you haven’t tried her- please do- you won’t regret it. If you love her, as I do, please remember that such development deserves tangible appreciation." Appreciation rendered - the day after I tried the STi version!! Got a trim problem though... version - Edge 165 waterskii edition. I suffer from runaway trim when manoeuvring close to terrrain. I am guessing that this happens in association with sim initiated 'turbulence' - which manifests as trim changes. Basically, when yanking and banking, the trim will sometimes go full stop in either direction. Causes one to impact that terrain unfortunately. Anyone else have this? On a related note, the autopilot on the STi version did random weird trim things upon disconnecting the autopilot. Runaway trims in either direction. That one was impossible, as the trim continued to run away max, rendering the plane unflyable, until one exited the flight. I have not enabled it since (though would like to, as I fly cross country IRL, and in sim). Thoughts?
December 29, 20205 yr @Grumpster - in a fairly comprehensive flight test regimen, I have never experienced this. Will keep checking- she was updated, so be sure to update from .to C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
December 30, 20205 yr @cavaricooper - I will try and reproduce it and record it. I am currently using your mod to evaluate the zlin product(s) [Norden, savage cub/outback] with either edge power or STi for a kit build in real life, so I don't want to switch to the latest 230+HP version. Loving the EP one, and hoping that it reflects real world performance - especially in cruise. I will re-enable the autopilot in the EP version of the mod, and see if that trim runaway can be recorded as well. Thanks again for a brilliant mod! Since I heard about this mod a month ago, it is the only bird I fly in the sim, and likely to stay that way - especially if I proceed with the build! Cheers. PS, do you have the updated placard for speeds for the EP mod, or is it the same as the STi? Also, do you have fuel burn numbers for STi and EP? I see some posters saying that in normal flight, no need to go past 5000, but I am flying at the placarded 5500 RPM for 75% power in cruise. At the distances I will likely be travelling (Yukon to South Texas for example), I will likely not opt for slow cruise!!
December 30, 20205 yr @Grumpster I’m so glad you like her, but I played a tiny part in flight test. All credit goes to @GotGravel who has done the outstanding work on these mods. I’m sure he’ll pop by with more answers for you. C Edited December 30, 20205 yr by cavaricooper Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
December 31, 20205 yr Autopilot test of EP Dec17 variant successful. Engaged, disengaged multiple times with no hiccups. Couldn't get the runaway trim to happen in manoeuvring flight either. The first time i encountered it, the plane would loop with power and no control inputs.

I have not enabled it since (though would like to, as I fly cross country IRL, and in sim). Thoughts? Hi @Grumpster, first of all thanks for liking this bird, glad you enjoy flying with her. On the topic of the runaway trim, it can be one of two things: 1) A bug in the sim. Experienced it before myself but it's been months so thinking it's fixed. Was really hard to control whenever that happened. Could also be the autopilot messing up your trim somehow. Again...a trim bug in the sim, is unfortunately out of my control and belongs in Asobo's inbox if that's the case. 2) A conflicting control assignment. You may have two inputs affecting your trim. Best to verify both your yoke / joystick as well as keyboard controls. Hope that helps! Edited December 31, 20205 yr by GotGravel
December 31, 20205 yr The only other thing I would add, is the importance of cycling ALL your flight control surfaces to their full deflection prior to moving the aircraft... for some reason this is even more important in this sim than prior versions, plus it's a GREAT habit to inculcate for RL. C Strange you should say that. I've noticed, on occasion, that the animation of the stick/yoke doesn't correspond to the hardware movements straight away. It takes a bit of wiggling before it gets close(ish) Another thought. Maybe it's the reason for some sketchy take-offs sometimes. Mmm. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
December 31, 20205 yr There is apparently a bug coupling elevator and trim that is fixed by doing the traditional "free and correct" control check before take-off.

C Perhaps that's why I never get this bug anymore...I ALWAYS cycle my controls for full deflection pre-flight (and look out of my window just to confirm they're actually moving 😉 ) Edited January 1, 20215 yr by GotGravel
