Is there a way to delete lightning effects ?

Featured Replies

In FSX/P3D we had an effects folder and we could delete lightning visuals and sounds could be deleted from the sounds folder.

Since Asobo insist its our imagination and they flying hours everyday and not seeing it, i guess its here to stay for a very long time.

I don't want to use presets, i still love the live weather but this is simply ridiculous ! Not 1 flight without constant lightning.

Please i just want to delete the effect completely at this point.

I'd suggest you give the free mod "Unreal Weather" a try. It's a great replacement for the porked MS "Live" weather system.

A case in point - I just got back indoors from a very pleasant, bright but not too cloudy Auckland afternoon (IRL), fired up the sim with Asobo's Live weather and got thunderstorms everywhere.

I then switched to Unreal Weather and could see from the METAR it used that there were no thunderstorms whatsover in it.The weather it produced was very close indeed to what I could see out of the window.

Unreal weather is ok but the abrupt transitions are a killer for me (takes me back 5 years).  One workaround it use Unreal weather for departure, arrival and switch to Asobo Live Weather enroute.  Bit of a pain but hey ho.

Thank Adam. but let me ask you this: whet is this engine do when away from weather stations ? when there is no metar around.

I am ok with whatever inaccurate metar as long as i wont have constant lightning on a 4 hours flight. So its not much of a solution.

I suspect you'd have the same problem in Real Life! @sidfac does offer a good compromise though!

Failing all that - you could spend some money on REX!

I dont even consider REX because its the same idea based 100% on metar. The in-game live weather Meteoblue data will be more accurate even in remote areas. Its just these darn lightning all over. I really want to find if deleting the effect is possible.

Unreal weather has the issue of abrupt cloud and wind. We need a complete & honest review of REX WF. It's our only option.

We need to ask ASOBO daily to please fix the live weather feature without breaking anything else.

There was a time i wanted them to fix live-weather and make it more accurate. I am now at a point where i simply want them to stop the constant lightning that's all. I don't even care anymore if it won't be there where it really needs to be. Just stop all together.

They will eventually fix it. We just need to keep asking and expressing to them how important this feature is. It's shocking that they have such amazing atmospheric effects, but have not addressed this issue. Sometimes I load the sim and my jaw drops. The atmosphere is second to none on this sim.

I agree. and that's even with no simulation of humid, haze etc...

I'm pee'd off with constant lightning too. Well, there has to be an effects folder somewhere and a sounds folder somewhere.

The hunt begins. . .

As others have suggested, use Unreal Weather until they fix the lightning. It has its own set of problems but anything is better than live weather in its current state.

Reading behind the words of devs last update I dont think this will be fixed anytime soon.
