RTX 3090 : when Applying NVSURROUND one display goes black

Recommended Posts

No issues with the former 2080 Ti.

But with my new 3090 one screen goes to black when Applying NVsurround.

Both displays (4K) are set to the same resolution.

Tried again with the 2080 Ti : perfect NVsurround.

Anyone experienced this with the 3090 ?

Goes black as in powers down or goes to standby like it's lost a signal or goes black in terms of can still move mouse over it, it's just a black screen?

Both monitors to 3840x2160 @30 hertz

Then Configure surround

On the tab both are assigned

Resolution shows : 8192x2160 @60 hertz

I choose 30 hertz

Enable Surround

- - -

The main monitor stays at 3840x2160

The second monitor goes black and shows 4096x2160

At the bottom it shows , Surround Enabled

Surround resolution: 4096x2160

Only 1 monitor is seen

- Disableing NVSURROUND —> second monitor shows an image again

At the point it blacks out the maximum surround resolution you can select is 4096x2160 and it does work until you choose 30Hz?

Have you tried the simple solutions first?

  • Rebooted with Surround enabled at 60Hz then try 30Hz?
  • Try another port on the GPU?
  • Unplug/Replug video cable on GPU after enabling surround?

Are these the same cables you used with the 2080?  That would rule out a cable issue.

Tried all the tricks but no luck.
I tried with HDMI : 1+2 / 1+3 / 2+3.
Un-replugging I did not try yet. Will do that tomorrow.

If I put back in the 2080 Ti it works right away. No change in cables and displays.

Frustrating I'm sure... And it does work until you go to 30Hz?

No ,none of the frequencies work.

With the 2080 Ti the maximum that card could handle was 2x 4K @ 30 hertz. Anything higher and both screens turned into dark purple ( 2x 4K = 8x 2K )..
