Recommended Posts

Does anyone know when and how often Bing satellite imagery will be updated?

WOW! Satellite imagery updates every 2-3 or 6 months will be a very good improvement! I was afraid of update in a 2-3 years.😃

As far as I understand it Bing gets in new imagery all the time but because that‘s very fragmented the MSFS team decided to bundle them and release them in bigger chunks in their world updates.

But it is only for relatively small areas each time. So for any given area it is only every few years.

If I take a look at my house the data is from 2016 (Germany)

I look at my area and its about 10yrs old, my suburb of the city doesn't even exist in MSFS

Well, I have heard the satellites won't venture over your area as they get beer bottles thrown at them as they pass over - this may or may not be true of course - so much fake news these days! 😄

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

I dont believe the high detail areas in Bing and Google maps are made by sattelites, i would think they were made with surveyor airplanes.

Otherwise there is no good reason why some areas are so low detail, especially the poles since a lot of imaging sattelites (also weather, infrared and UV for example) are travelling over the poles every orbit.

(North and South pole should have the highest detail according to that logic)

My house is close to a major building lot which was started in the last year and is in the sim. State around last Winter. Germany as well.
