Has anyone tried getting Thrustmaster quadrant airbus edition working in FSX? I've been trying for a week now with no luck. The controls (buttons) do everything but what I'm trying to get it to do. For example, the throttles don't throttle. Somewhere along the advancement of the throttles I end up in the external view mode. I even tried programing the buttons in the FSX/Settings/Controls and still no luck. If you have gotten this to work, can you please share with me what you did? I'm using it along side the Airbus Joystick. I contacted Thrustmaster support and they directed me to look on-line (YouTube). That wasn't a lot of help lol. I'll keep researching on-line until I figure it out.

Thank you,

Mike

I use it in P3D v5 and the buttons work for me. Make sure you delete all button and axis assignments completely (the ones FSX assigned automatically) and then remap. Also install the driver from the Thrustmaster support website. Sorry if this help is a bit 'shallow'.

My issue with the quadrant is that the calibration was completely off at first. I managed to calibrate it via FSUIPC but even now the right throttle is mostly slightly ahead of the right one resulting in slightly asymmetric thrust. I'm not sure whether I'm satisfied with it to be honest.

The TM support told you to go to YouTube? Nice support there.

*threegreen just beat me to it, but here you go anyway.*

I don't have that quadrant, but if I were you I would make sure the TCA is selected in the in-game controller settings and all button and axis assignments for the TCA (making sure it's not for your flight stick) are deleted first (keep the keys but clear the axis assignments and buttons).  Also make sure you have selected All Events and not just specific events.

When done, go back to Free Flight and try the throttle again to make sure that throttle axis causing the view change doesn't happen.  Make sure you are not using Thrustmaster's software for control assignments (clear any control assignments if you were).  Finally open USB Game Controller in Windows (searchable in Windows 10) and make sure all controls show up and all axes work.  I suggest quitting FSX to make sure it saves the controller settings (so you don't have to do everything all over again if the sim crashes), then try assigning the functions as you tried to do before.

Oh, now that I think of it: I also have the Airbus stick and it has a throttle axis and a twist rudder axis.  Have you selected the Airbus stick in FSX and DELETED the throttle axis?  It may have been overriding your quadrant's throttle axis.

Thank you for the recommendations. I'll try deleting all the FSX current button assignments for the TCA throttle and reassign the buttons. I've installed the current drivers from TM.

Make sure the flight stick's throttle axis is deleted.  I always forget that part whenever I get a new controller with similar functions to another controller.  Did TM support know you had the Airbus stick too?  If so they could have told you the same thing, hmm.

Thank you for the additional suggestion. I tried what you recommended and the throttles still don't move. I got the reverse thrusters to work, but I can't advance them. I made sure for the joystick in settings/controls/control axes, I deleted the joystick entry for throttle axis and made sure the throttle axis were activated in Airbus TCA throttle.

So the sim recognizes the throttle axis of the quadrant, and it does not sound like a defective product.  Do you have any other controllers also connected?  For example, a XBox controller?  If I have trouble with one controller I unplug everything except for the mouse and keyboard to rule out any conflict.

Do you have FSUIPC? I'd recommend to try and assign buttons and throttle via FSUIPC instead and also calibrate it.

For what it's worth, I tested my quadrant with the PMDG NGXu and it wouldn't move the levers, only reverse would engage somewhat. What you describe sounds similar.

I'm going to give FSUIPC a try. My throttles were calibrated using TM. It doesn't start in the correct location (too high). I'll use FSUIPC hopefully to get it closer to where it needs to be (before reverse thruster). Thank you for the advice.

Windows' Set Up USB Game Controller utility has a calibration tool as well if you want to see if it is any better than TM's utility.

Spad.next is what I use for all of my controls -- it allows me to map the axis to work great...

The TCA Throttle has a bunch of "virtual Buttons" that trigger basically where all of the Detents are....  So those will fire off events 😞 if you don't delete them.  I don't have any controllers mapped in FSX I disabled them all in there and used Spad.Next for all control assignments.

I have since moved on from FSX and only use P3D 4.5 and MSFS.  But I spend some time last night while doing my first Air Bus flight in MSFS doing my MCP and TCA throttle mapping.....Now just need to work on dialing in the curve so that I can have the Detents line up with MSFS detents...

TM don't even provide a tool for calibration which is odd in itself. When you install the driver, you can access a window where you can check button and axis inputs but it doesn't calibrate anything. Yours is miscalibrated, mine was and likely everyone's. That's why you will need FSUIPC or another software like Les suggested to do the calibration part. Windows calibration doesn't work that well for a throttle axis and it didn't help me personally at all.

I have my quadrant working fine now. What I did was delete every button and axis within P3D and use FSUIPC for mapping and calibration instead. I fly the FSLabs A320 in P3D which has its own feature where you can adjust ranges for the detents which helped as well. It's now working as it should. As for calibration, remember to use the full range of the levers including reverse.

Which Airbus do you fly in FSX by the way?

Hello all,

I’ve just purchased the Thrustmaster Airbus Throttle, I already have the joystick and it’s brilliant.

My throttle is getting delivered this week. I mainly fly the FSLabs Airbus series aircraft, the Aerosoft A330 and the PMDG Boeings. I’m a little bit worried about setting the new throttle up with the non-Airbus aircraft. I have FSUIPC so I’m going to try and set them up through that.

I was just wondering if anyone could offer any tips/advice for setting this throttle up with PMDG aircraft? I don’t always find FSUIPC the easiest program to navigate.

Any tips / advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jonathan.

I use it with the PMDG 777 and I just "use it" 🙂 I don't bother with removing the detents I actually like them since I have an idea of where I am when it clicks in..

Then sure the Reverser is not the Boeing pull up but hey it works.
