A beautiful morning, and then...

Featured Replies

Took a flight from KRNO to KSLC in the Bonanza Turbo. It started out as a beautiful morning flight until about half way there icing came on very quick. Got clearance to descend 10,000ft to get into some warmer (1-3) air. Spent the second half of the flight in the dreary slaw until it cleared a little getting close to Salt Lake.

Evidently it can happen. "Another icing myth is that it cannot develop in clear air. While unusual, this is not entirely true. One area where you may witness clear-air icing is in the vicinity of convective storms. During times of updraft supercooled droplets can be expelled through the tops of the “anvil” and fall outside of the storm itself."

I don't see any convective storms.  Or clouds above that could produce freezing rain.  I see clear air over a cumulostratus deck.

True, just a FYI

Nice shots, thanks for posting!

Gorgeous pics!  I hope they adjust the icing feature soon (I think they agreed it was a bit overdone)...and make it better.  I still like the fact we have icing, out of the box, in this sim.

Very nice screenies. Just one small point James, treat yourself to the Prop mods, a 'must have' in my opinion.

That's what I thought cruising at fl190 above the clouds. Got cleared up to fl21 thinking maybe was too close to the clouds, not 2 minutes latter It came on pretty badly. Temp was -10c. Descended to 11,000 were the temp ranged from 1c-3c and still dealt with light icing in the mess. Eventually it all cleared out. The Turbo Bonanza doesn't have de-ice.

Ron, I had it in the with my mods but apparently it conflicts with either the livery or the Turbo Bonanza mod so it doesn't show up. I think I may have to go with exchanging the file in the plane's folder inside MSFS packages.

Mmm, strange old thing is flight simulator. Has been since the dawn of time. 😏

I'll just utter the famous words on forums all over the world  "It works OK for me" 😄

EDIT: The livery, of course. Does the livery have a TEXTURE folder? If it does, drop the props in there rather than the default's folder.

Ron, I think you have to rebuild the layout.json or something to do that.
