I just ordered the puck version, it’ll be here Monday 😀

I also ordered the puck version. $74.95 + sales tax & free shipping for everything needed is hard to beat. I also like the look of the headband thing, seems cooler than wearing a hat inside near triple monitors and GPU+PC heat sources. Should be here Saturday.

Thanks to Richdem, for the recommendation.

Ok, I'm confused here. Can I purchase just the puck and use my Logitech Webcam or do I need to purchase the more expensive option that comes with a camera. Thanks

I don't know about leveraging you own webcam.  You might ask the vendor about that.  As far as the headband goes....It's just ok.  It's very smooth plastic and if you don't have a lot of hair, it tends to slip.   Velcroing the puck to some headphones or another headset might be a better option.

Or, do like I do and wear a ballcap backwards then put on the headband.  The headband is less likely to slip that way.

Just be prepared for a decent amount of fiddling to get everything right.  But of course it wouldn't be Microsoft Flight Simulator without some tweaking.  Only this time, you're mainly tweaking outside the sim.  Inside the sim, there's nothing to do.

Is there anyone who has used both this and TrackIR who is able to compare the responsiveness of the two?    I've had a single TrackIR unit in regular use for over a decade now -- in spite of the claims of its flimsiness -- and though I've tried other cheaper solutions out of curiosity none of them have been as reliable, accurate, and responsive as the "real thing".   I'd be wondering if there's any upside to changing for someone who has a TrackIR 5.

Tobi Eye tracking is currently not supported...  Not sure if asobo or Tobi have any plans to implement support.

Yet it still works for the most part. I'm almost sold on the eye tracking alone!

They work on roughtly the same technology, so I don't see any benefit from changing.  At $75.00 this has a cost advantage of almost 2 to 1.  So that is why most of us are using it.  I never had a TrackIR 5, but the responsiveness I have is adequate and it's at least as good as my TrackIR4 was in FSX.  The camera is very sensitive and picks up very minor motion.  So I have to say I'm satisfied.  Maybe the TrackIR 5 is better, but it would be pretty hard for it to be twice as good.

Well no, it doesn't actually do anything with eye tracking except give you another (clunky) way of panning the view. (Which is redundant, as they've reinvented head tracking too.) But maybe they'll find something useful to do with it, possibly for flipping switches, which would be useful in the virtual cockpit if it can be made accurate enough (which it clearly isn't for now).

The one thing I could see would be the outside light rejection, as that is something I do fight now and then with my TrackIR hat clip.

The track IR system relies on "reflected" IR where as the "puck" generates it's own IR using LED's on the headset itself.   Both cameras are going to be affected by direct sunlight or IR into it's lens.  But I don't know if the Puck system is any more "reliable" since the puck generates the actual points of light instead of just relying on reflectors.

If I had to guess, I'd say it probably is.

No Problems Guys,

I am happy to help. I have had a good chance to play around with mine and I am really happy. I have one profile for MSFS and one for X-plane 11 based of setting the curves in this video

I had played with the curves a lot but this was really simple and worked very well. I ended up picking up a gaming headset to mount the puck as I found the headband little too uncomfortable due to my lack of hair lol. I also played around with 125fps @ 320 x 240 but ended up going back to 75fps @ 640 x 480. Also I had to point the camera down slightly as it is on top of my 42" TV and angle the puck up a little.

I use the X-Camera plugin in X-Plane 11 and that has a head tracking smoothing option which in conjunction with the filter in Opentrack gives incredibly fluid results. I wish there was something similar for MSFS 2020
