November 20, 20205 yr Gotta fly SRK on this trip in the Snowy Mountains. Thanks to my friend Ian, I had the chance to see parts of this region from the right seat of SRK during the Australian Summer of 2016. Much appreciated! ... Hmm. The C172 is too slow for this crowd. Will turn instead to an old favorite, the A2A Comanche in Jan Kees' Snowy Mountains scheme. --Mike MacKuen
November 21, 20205 yr Antipodean Trilogy Part 2 Airports from OZx and Ants. It looks as though we're going to need OZx as well as Ants Airports for this adventure. If you have these running on your simulator, you are good to go. I'm running P3Dv5 and the following airports are NOT in the P3Dv5 database: YZSR YKHA YADY YCUR YTBG YZAD That is six of the proposed ten landings. The good news is that you may have both OZx for Australia and the OZx Libraries already installed for P3Dv4. Ditto for Ants Airports. And the raw combination of P3Dv5 and the freeware OZx, OZx Libraries, and Ants Airports work ok with each other. (I have those already installed for P3Dv4 and thus can simply reference their current locations when "adding" them to the P3Dv5 active airports.) They are "ok" in the sense that there are a few double-buildings and minor elevation glitches. The doubled-over airports are plenty flyable. And the non-doubled airports, the six above, are just fine with the P3Dv5 mesh. If you don't have these installed, you can get Ants Airports here. Download "Ant's Aussie Airports Complete" direct here. This will add Tumut YTMU, Khancoban (YKHA) and Adaminaby (YADY) as well as many more airports not in this flight. For the remainder, you'll need OZx and the associated Libraries. You can find the OZx files to download here. Please take the time to do this installation of OZx methodically, and in sequence. The process is more tedious than difficult. You should install both OZx and its FSX libraries as instructed. (You will discard those FSX libraries, but it is a good idea to follow the instructions without taking shortcuts.) Eventually, you will have OZx v3.5 Scenery and OZx Libraries v1.2. And you will have also downloaded directly the OZx Converted P3D Libraries from the same source as above. (These were converted by Jorge Roldan of the OZx community.] You can get the full installation directions from our post at the top of our AVSIM Racing Team forum here. For this particular flight, you probably don’t want to go through the entire "blending" instructions...which can be complicated. We'll just live with a few minor anomalies. So once you have Ants Airports installed and added OZx and OZx Converted P3D Libraries, you are set to go.FYI. As far as I can tell, all the airports save two are in MSFS 2020 (two in 2020 have different names). The charmingly Rogerian Talbingo (YTBG) and Adelong (YZAD) are not in MSFS 2020. (Talbingo is physically present, but the runway is rough.) --Mike MacKuen

November 22, 20205 yr To all those that were desperately upset by my terrain travails...Oh, just me then? Well, they are now sorted. P3D lives to fight another day. It was touch and go for a minute there. 😏 The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
