November 22, 20205 yr I am having some issues with the Autopilot. If I press ALT, the aircraft cannot maintain the altitude and ends up climbing (very) slowly. After soem minutes, ATC starts complaining that I am 300 feet or more above my assigned altitude. When using my Logitech Panel to set the altitude, the autopilot does not stop at the selected altitude and keeps climbing indefinitely... Some aircraft have a separate AP switch to turn it on regardless of the mode switch (ALT in this case) being selected. Is there a separate switch for the PA44? November 22, 20205 yr There’s just a single autopilot engage switch. FWIW in my first few flights I was able to engage altitude hold and it maintained that altitude. Check the supplied autopilot supplement from Corenado and you will see one of the indications on the display is for trim up/down. As I remember you will get a trim up or down indication but you have to provide the trim input. The autopilot isn't driving the pitch trim. Been away from this stuff for too long and I ain't getting any younger. 😁 Bill N7IBG
November 24, 20205 yr Perhaps I’ve missed something somewhere but in the PA44 is there a way to set the com switches to be able to transmit on Com 2? I can see how to set the buttons to be able to monitor/listen to Com 2 frequency transmissions whilst also monitoring Com 1. Typically, I use Com 2 to listen to the ATIS and communicate with Ground - I can listen to the ATIS but can’t communicate with Ground. Thanks John
November 24, 20205 yr I think that’s a MSFS limitation. This is a tutorial I made for the S-Tec 55 autopilot for the PA-44 by Carenado. I have not flown the PA-44 in real life but have flown similar aircraft and I am a professional pilot. I did a mag check in the PA-44 and did get a drop from 2000 RPM. It was a small drop but it dropped. There are other bugs with the PA-44. Things like the prop coming out of feather with the engine shut down (no accumulator on this version as far as I know and no oil pressure so it shouldn't move out of feather until started) and when one alternator is turned off both amp gauges peg at 100. I made a review video of it on YouTube and sent it to Carenado. They responded so hopefully they'll fix that and other items. Overall, it is a great airplane compared to the default aircraft.

It will show ALT and TEMP in C to compare.
