Still just 6%

What happens if you run it over 6%?

I9-14900K,  Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme  M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD

Sorry, I couldn't find the answer anywhere.... why 6%, what happens if I set it to 10% or 100%?  Is that to avoid MSFS native ships and ferries?

Any one know how his Great Lakes ships package is moving along?

It is not to have conflicts with default and other shipping.

With a lot of luck tomorrow, but most likely next weekend.

I am also interested in getting a clear and concise answer on this.  I see sooo many opinions on this out there in the forums but not a definite answer.  For those of us that have this package installed along with the ORBX Global Shipping and Enhanced AI, what would be the best setting for Ships and Ferries?  Right now I have mine set to 80% and I have to say that even though I see ships, I don't see a lot and very few where you'd expect a lot.

The answer is  6%..... In order to understand why, you need to do quite some testing so even if there are different observations in different threads, they are generally just based on observations in a certain area. However, the two packages are not compatible and you will realise this as we get Global AI Ship Traffic back with full traffic.. It is not so that you will have conflicts all over, but you will have conflicts on ferry routes and in narrow straits. The routes in GlobaL AI Ship Traffic are spaced to avoid conflicts as the AI engine isn't that smart and can't handle when too many ships meet - also the AI engine actually makes large ships try to avoid each other despite being on parallel courses if their routes are not spaced sufficiently. It can easily send ships up on land. If you maintain 6% you have all Global AI Ship Traffic ships, but not all default ships - and remember Enhanced AI uses default routes. You can keep Leisure Boats at 100% as they spawn and do not sail on routes.

In order to satisfy the demand for higher traffic levels than what was in the first release V1 based on routes from FSX we will within a month launch an GAIST Ultra with additional traffic and the possibility to increase or decrease traffic - e.g. have more intercontinental traffic.

Are there any previews anywhere?

Not besides what I posted on page 35... It isn't that complicated, but after having spent most of my sparetime the last weeks on converting I might do something different tomorrow... 😄

Great answer and thank you.  Based on this,  I will take out the the Global AI stuff.  Not impressed with their package and I think yours fulfills the mission quite well.  Thanks again!

Best bet is to just use Seafront Simulations Vessels Enhanced AI only, as that only replaces all the default ships for better models. And then use Henriks Global Ship AI for the rest. Since Seafront Simulations Global Traffic addon will most likely conflict with this mod.

That's what I did.  Mainly because some places like TFFJ seem to have static cruise ships placed as part of the default scenery.   I also kept the Vessels: Anguilla, St Martin and St Barts,  and the freeware Vessels: Channel Islands.
