study level boats

I think that would definitely be a realistic project, only requiring most of the following features to be implemented in MSFS:

  • Proper simulation of ocean currents/high tide/low tide
  • Accurate simulation of sails
  • Reefs/sand shoals and other shallow water hazards
  • Proper placement of all lighthouses in the world with their proper light signals
  • UI and keybindings to properly operate a sextant
  • Proper simulation of ice and icebergs (but expect the visual fidelity of icebergs to be dumbed down for the XBox)
  • Whales/dolphins/sea monsters/Flying Dutchman
  • Pirates

No doubt something Asobo can do in an afternoon or two for an upcoming sim update 🙂

I have been flying around testing a bit tonight and have to say that with the help of Kai and the Fleetmon team we are extremely close to fulfilling a long time dream about having real shipping in the simulator - below ships anchored off Santos in Brazil today. Devil is in the detail and we still have things to add and correct, but honestly I never imagined we would get to this point.

Looks amazing, and just getting off of a summer cruise cannot wait to stalk the ship we were on! 😄 🛳️

This looks just like it did last week, just offshore from KSAN, I'm at 10% also

I forgot to tell you. I installed GAIST directly into the Community folder as opposed to Addon Linker. Guess what? It works. Not had a hang since. Yay!

Phantom Titanic sailing PAST the iceberg...

Just did some sightseeing around NY, and noticed this cargo ship just southeast of Manhattan, spinning around in circles. Anyone else seen it?

Yep, I've seen that too.

It seems a bit lost, just going around in circles. Not sure if it’s a part of GAIST although I’ve got it installed.

SU10 is suppose to include wakes, correct. With GAIST take advantage of the msfs wakes?

MSFS has supported wakes since Sim Update 5, and GAIST has had them for a while. All SU10 is doing is adding them to the default boat traffic.

OK, I misunderstood. I thought wakes were provided with the beta version of GAIST through a work around (kinda of like their great lakes offering and the sea level work around).

James

The wakes are there and in combination with the GAIST ships look very impressive IMO 🙂

Like with the cargo ship in NY city I mentioned a few posts back - it leaves behind circular wakes as it just keeps going around in circles.

I wonder if this is still a going concern?

I really hope so.
