This is weird. SU 11 works with GAIST for me. Of course, I'm not saying it's not the cause of CTD for others but maybe it's a result of some conflict between GAIST and some other addon perhaps? I haven't yet updated my Nvidia driver to the latest one released this week. Could it be that?

Probably not. I have GAIST and the latest driver together with many add-ons in SU11 beta, no issues.

I also considered an "inter-addon conflict". Tried to load a flight with only GAIST in the community folder. Still no go.

It depends how long you've been away from GAIST. There was a update to a beta version that includes wakes. latest version is at https://flightsim.to/discover/gaist

I can add to @pmplayer 's comment that we are running beta test in a closed group at AIG; I shared the new ships folder yesterday in that group to be tested with the AIG real time injection. So far so good... We still have some hick ups and will also have after launch. Some ships send out funny AIS positions... on land... or heading when moored wrong, meaning that our moored ships will not always be aligned with the quay.

Today testing the Washington State ferries live traffic in Pudget Sound... Early morning ready to depart.

@Alvega - @Cpt_Piett just did a test with a reduced amount of bgl traffic files and then GAIST the worked well with SU11. So it is most likely the same issue we have seen with the excessive amount of bgl files; hopefully we can have that solved in a few weeks with the live traffic.

Thanks. Why is it that only some people have this problem though?

Computers, settings, other add-ons... no two users have the same configuration.

I think other addons can be excluded, since @Cpt_Piett tried with just GAIST and still have the problem.

Do you think reducing the number of ships will help with this? I think I have mine on 6.

No, the problem is not the ship setting - your setting is correct and changing will not improve. The problem is the amount bgl traffic files combined with your system, settings and other stuff. The bgl files consume a lot of calculation power at start up as the system run through all of the files to see which ships should be present where you are flying. This is why you get the freeze when you load. The solution is to do as I did with Cpt_Piett - I sent him a file with less bgl files and the problem was solved. Again this will be solved once we launch the real time version, but you can also yourself remove some of the bgl files - they are named according to area so you can just choose the ones most relevant to where you fly. Remember to run layout generator for the gaist package to restore the layout.json before flying again. Personally I run MSFS on a very high end gaming computer and I still never managed to provoke a freeze.

So are you saying if a user has a fairly high end PC, the mod should be fine when using MSFS?
