Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship Traffic for MSFS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,
I installed the new Gaist ultra 5 yesterday. I was wondering why I don't see any ships anywhere. . I then set my setting under Traffic/Ships Ferries to 9, i.e. between 5-10, as recommended. Unfortunately it doesn't help! I have linked the file ai-boats-ships-v5-msfs via AddonLinker to the community folder, there it is also correct, with the 2 subfolders gaist-ship-routes_v1_1 and gaist-ultra-v5_0 arrived. I have since restarted both the sim and Windows. Unfortunately, there is still no ship traffic to be seen! I flew over the port of Genoa, you should see ship traffic there!
What else have I overlooked?

Many thanks in advance,

Stefan

My guess - you copied the GAIST Folder as it was extracted. If you open that folder, there is another folder inside of that and it is this folder that must be copied to your Community Folder. So in other words, when the GAIST folder is correctly placed in the Community folder, when you double-click to open the folder, there is a whole bunch of files in there including a manifest.json file, not just another GAIST folder. Edit - I see you are using Addon Linker. In that case I am not sure if my suggestion is relevant.

@KL791 Thank you for this. It's really impressive the detail that goes into each one of these vessels. It must represent thousands of hours of work. Just one quick question - the gaist-ship-routes_v1_1 folder should also be placed into Community Folder alongside the gaist-ultra-v5_0 folder?

Well, I have both folders as a link, created by the AddonLinker in the Community folder. In Genoa I still don't see a single ship or boat in the harbor!
The setting for ships and ferries is set to 9.

How do you remove static ships? I was flying over the english channel, saw loads of moving boats but also found a few static ships as well. Have my ship density at 10

Do you have Orbx GB South Landmark Scenery? That adds lots of static ships in various locations, so it might be those. Only other thing i can think of is the Aerosoft North Sea Pack as that again will add lots of static ships around English Channel as well.

Just a heads up: Simstaller, by //42 installs it beautifully. You just double click the Zip file in your download folder and it finds the Community folder and everything. It also shows the route files as a separate install. Took a long time though...

Hi - to see if your installation works try to do a flight from Calais towards Dover. On that route you should always have ships. In Genoa you will only occasionally have ships in the port. In general routes do not go into ports because many users have eg photo sceneries installed which contains ships moored in port and it would create conflicts.

I checked the new version yesterday near the Elbe River/Cuxhaven where normally its a heavy load ship route but i see only 2-3 ships on the Elbe or in the Cuxhaven area....anybody else have the same problem?

The ideal then would be to have them in real time by our own and user license with the data provider.

What a great new package, thank you @KL791 and team!

Today I landed in Hong Kong and took the time to use the drone to review your wonderful work, quite impressive indeed. FYI, I spotted one Coast Guard (I believe?) vessel which had no livery textures, only the pinkish chessboard all over, it has an helicopter platform (I think) on the stern, two large cranes in the middle, and a gun on the bow. It was anchored on the South West coast of Hong Kong island about half a mile from the coast.

Other than that, in a place like HK, this is adding a crowded life to an otherwise empty sea. Congratulations.

Easily the best freeware available for MS2020. I enjoy it so much. With one proviso: There is still no ship sailing up the river Parrett to the wharf at Dunball! 😂
