Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship Traffic for MSFS

After a long absence...

Today we did the first tests with GAIST for MSFS 2024 - the below screenshots use the Live Traffic data from the simulator with an adapted version of the GAIST fleet.

Some of the issues we see are data driven like ships rotating in harbor, being misplaced while moored, or not moving when they should, and are forwarding these issues to Asobo, but idependently of that the GAIST ships should be available for release before or around Christmas - maybe not the full collection but around 700 ships divided on 300+ models are already ready and were sent to beta testers today

Henrik. Is there anyway to request a specific ship model?

I served on the Antarctic Patrol ship HMS Endurance (ex-Anita Dan) in the mid 80’s for 2 years.

ASOBO created the Westland WASP (Endurance has two of these as part of the ships flight). Just so happens a talented painter created a livery for XT418.

Would be marvellous to see HMS Endurance in the sim. Somewhere to launch/land. The ship doesn’t have to move. A static berthed in Port Stanley. At the time Mare Harbour has only just got the go ahead for construction.

Nice work, This is great news. Looking forward to this!

Will this increase the distance the ships spawn in? I've noticed they are only spawning in very close to the plane in 2024 and not like they were in 2020. Could just be current server issues though.

Once we have the MSFS 2024 version of GAIST out and I restart to model this could be fun to do - and you are welcome to remind me - Anita Dan was Danish, before she entered service for the Royal Navy, and I remember the stories about the Danish arctic ships from when I was a kid.

The distance is indeed very short. You might very well have passed an area with ships before they load. We will bring forward this issue to Asobo, but they decide as this is probably related to overall performance.

And then a few shots from a test flight above the Panama Canal - with the very good news that ships are now floating and sail on the Canal - would be an exageration to say you can follow a ship all the way through at this point, but there is at least with GAIST beta ships on the canal.

Hi Henrik. Thank you for considering this request.

Sorry if already answered earlier in the thread, but is this better than the Aerosoft one Orbx has on sale right now?

They need to sort this out, because objects popping in at very close range is a massive immersion killer. Based on the performance that I get in MSFS 2020 with the PC in my signature, they have a lot more to spare than they think.

They will not change this, their bad LOD management has been brought up time and time again in MSFS2020. We just need to accept this.

GAIS seems to work just fine in MSFS2024 with the sim ships turned off. Draw distance is the same as 2020 and, for me, the English Channel is now properly populated with ships. No wakes though I dont think?

Nothing showing for me, with sim ships turned off!

Working for me. Did you install both the models and the routes folders?

I did, and nothing in the Channel for me either, no matter the time of day.
