Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship Traffic for MSFS

Oh, so is it better not to put the traffic in real time? I just want to see traffic on the Atlantic and the Caribbean...

Caribbean is not a problem. Almost all boat traffic goes from island to island or near the coast lines. Middle of the Mexicon Gulf is empty.

Is there a link somewhere for AIG? Flightsim.to downloads are sooo slow...

I agree and they really want you to pay for a measly 50MB/s download.

Ok, thanks. And the screenshots on AIG from Kaii are very helpful, I link them here (hope that is ok for everyone): https://www.alpha-india.net/2025/05/25/msfs-ai-traffic-settings/

Using those settings, I see only ships using real live traffic. None with AI traffic. Must test other locations, where is the highest density of AI traffic around?

there are 3 different settings on the site:

  • Live Ships and 3rd party airplanes (like AIGTC or FSHud)
  • Offline Ships and 3rd party airplanes (like AIGTC or FSHud)
  • Live Ships and Airplanes (uses GAIST and AIG models for matching)

Make sure that for offline BGL Ships the package with the BGL files is installed.

Of course it is installed. And I use offline ships with the settings in your screenshots and see no ships. But tested only Hamburg and Wellington so far...

Hamburg is not a great place to check as I do not have many routes into Hamburg as Fischkopf / Manfred has made a lot of routes using GAIST for separate download. He has offered me to integrate but I simply haven't had time yet. To test functionality the English Channel between Dover and Calais is the optimal place for offline and online.

I expect to release a small update over the weekend; it primarily deals with the giant container ship many off you have seen in odd places in the online mode. It is down to missing data in the original AIS info provided from especially small leisure boats and then lack of filtering by MSFS. However, I found a way to cheat the simulator and suppress the error as it turns out to be very systematic how it occurs.

That's great. Just this morning as I was flying over bay of Kiel I notice how prevalent that error was. Two giant container ships in the middle of sailboat marinas.

Looking forward to it being resolved.

At this point I continue to prefer using Offline mode for AI (both ships and static airplanes), so I will patiently wait for updated and increased shipping routes to be added to GAIST. I tried to find the routes you suggested by Fischkopf / Manfred, but get an error when trying to access their web page. Would you happen to know of any sites that have extra shipping routes created by other users for GAIST?

I see loads of ships and boats in the channel but not the most commonly seen real life ones namely medium sized inflatables? 😂

Where we can find the fix for Gigant Container ships.

Hi - I hope to release it this afternoon/evening but it depends both on my own time and if I can get flightsim.to support to open up for upload as GAIST is bigger than their normal file upload limit. I am working on it right now.

Stupid question, but will this fix really require a full re-download of GAIST?
