Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship Traffic for MSFS

Featured Replies

Thank you so much for this wonderful mod. It runs smoothly and the amount of different ships is totally mindblowing. I hope we can soon also get the traffic back on the big rivers. In P3D that worked really nicely.

Are those ships statics?

I was watching several move slowly down the English Channel earlier. Quite lovely it was too.

Panama is always a good place to hang out.  Was a little drizzly taking off out of MPMG this morning but it's starting to burn off.

This just gets better and better!

Rio is quite nice as well.

Thank you to all those involved in this mod, amazing work.

One question: How do the routes work in terms of ship placement and sim date used? As an example: If I see a ship leave Southampton port this afternoon (setting the date and time to live, so September the 6th) heading for say Rio, will it be continuing to make the journey if I load up the sim tomorrow? So be a bit further from Southampton and a bit closer to Rio because of the change of sim date even though I haven't had the sim on?

If that makes sense.

I saw some funny behavior outside of Long Beach harbor, a freighter was turning circles. Could that have been one of the default ships maybe?

If the Suez canal doesn't get blocked occasionally then it's a deal-breaker for me!

Just to echo what other people have said - genuine thanks to Henrik and any other helpers who contributed - superb!

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Hi - it makes sense and the answer is yes. The ships sail on routes lasting from 1 hour to 4 weeks for a return trip. Many are put on a two week schedule so you will only see the same ship in the same spot once a week and you can potentially follow it all the way if you are patient enough.

The Ever Given is included... but hopefully she will not get stock this time... ;D

Nah, it could also be one of ours.... when ships come to their end point they sometime can't fall to rest - it is a bug in the sim engine - usually however it stops after some seconds. It can also happen if e.g. three ships meet in a narrow strait - then the sim can't figures out which one to give priority....

Below one of the ships getting ready for next update - the Finlandia sailing between Finland and Estonia

We might have a solution which could work on certain stretches, but it will probably be launched separately - the models we have

Thank you for v2, I was really looking forward to this! 🙂 It looks and performs great!

While I saw at least 4 vessels in the Elbe estuary (4 times better than zero!) and enjoyed the traffic on the US East Coast and the English Channel, I just flew out of Kiel and found no ships in the Kiel fjord or the Schlei estuary and it almost looks like the entire Baltic Sea is devoid of ships.  When I tried v1 there were at least a few of them in the general area.  What am I missing?

Edit:  Nvm I guess... I just met the "Ore Pantanal" SW of Ærø island, covered in eerie red-yellow light.

(I was restarting the sim (still no traffic near the German Baltic sea coast tho) and switched back to everything "Live", to rule out custom time etc. having to do with it.  Since we have new moon, it is pitch black out there and slowly flying in a still unfamiliar feeling helicopter in complete darkness past some huge, creepily lighted bulk carrier, low enough to read the ship's name on the stern in VR is exactly why I was looking forward to this!  It's really a little bit scary!  🙂  )

Edit 2: Cool, the "Color Fantasy" just (0:30am UTC) arrived in the Kiel fjord, it's due 8:00am UTC but maybe they were radioed to put more coal on the fire because some word not allowed is driving everyone mad with his chopper hovering over Kiel, waiting for ships!  Before I got there I encountered a Volvo Ocean 65 yacht of the Vestas 11th hour racing team between Gedser and Rostock.... this is fun!  🙂

Henrik thank you so much! Where will it stop? I know where...

Today will see the release of WU6 with Switzerland, Germany and Austria. Switzerland has a number of large and scenic beautiful lakes. Will we, sometimes in the future, be able to admire one of our old historic paddle steamers on the Leman, Luzern, Constanz, Neufchâtel lakes?

If I had any designing skills, I would gladly contribute, they could be ready for the next sim in 2030... In any case, wholehearted thanks to the team for their fantastic work!
