Henrik Nielsen's Global AI Ship Traffic for MSFS

Featured Replies

Thank you. I've downloaded the latest version, which I believe I already had but will try the new one. If it CTD then I will give the layout generator a try.

Just downloading the latest version now.  Like the idea of splitting the bgls according to geograpghic region in Addond Linker.  Tell me, are the files already organized that way or they need to be separated out manually?

The routes names gives a good hint to their location Asia, Africa, US... Sort by names.... BUT as it takes a tiny bit more effort to generate the packages you can find my collection inside this zip file:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/4makomhqlpbs0ju/Gaist_Regional_Routes.zip?dl=0

Don't install the total file - you should unzip and then instaill files contained in the folder inside.

You will need to remove the scenery folder from GAIST Ultra and run layout generator after that removal.

PS this dropbox link will only be available until November.

PPS... I will be travelling and unable to answers questions so please help each other 😄

Thx for the download.  I grabbed them in case I want to go each route.  Don't quite follow your instructions on having to generate packages (aren't they already generated into .bgls?),  but I will explore.  Plus, would each area folder have to have its own copies of all the boat models inorder to work?  Seams that would make a 2TB addon into one over 10-15TB?!  Maybe I am just not grasping it yet.

I'll first just try the whole default package to see if I get any freeze-up. I have a pretty heafty PC so I think I will be ok.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

+1. If someone is able to write a mini-tutorial on this I'd be very grateful. I've got the MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe from github, just not really sure how to proceed from there.

Question, will the new version of this addon conflict with seafront simulation addons or will they compliment each other?

EDIT: I might have figured it out.

1. I put the GAIST regional routes in a separate folder in Addons linker. Then just activate the relevant region (e.g. "gaist-na-routes" for North America) depending on where I go flying

2. I removed the Scenery folder from gaist-ultra-BETA

3. I updated the layout.json in gaist-ultra-BETA by dragging onto MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe

4. Loaded a flight at KSAN to test

I believe that is one of Henrik's ships.

1- Extract all the routes folders to your community folder (or the folder you use with Addons Linker, same folder where you have GAIST).

2- Inside the GAIST Ultra folder delete the scenery folder.

3- Open a Command Window, press Windows key and type cmd and press enter

4- Type CD and then drag the MSFSlayoutgenerator.exe file onto the cmd window and press enter

5- Now add the GAIST Ultra layout.json path (in my case it stays like this: E:\LayoutGenerator\MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe E:\Downloads\MSFS Addons\Scenery\gaist-ultra-BETA\layout.json) and press enter.

6- Activate the GAIST routes folder you need for each Addons Manager preset (for example, I have a Caribbean preset I use when I fly in the Caribbean, so I just active the NA routes in that preset, since those have the caribbean routes).

7. Go fly.

@Cpt_Piett Now I see what you posted. Yes, you can do it like that too. 👍

If you have the MSFSlayoutgenerator.exe file inside the Gaist folder you don't need my step 3, 4 and 5. I use mine in a separate folder, so I use those steps.

It seems to be working. Well, I've just checked in North America (San Diego). I'll now go check in the UK.

EDIT: Well now it's confusing since I have both GAIST and Seafront Simulations South East UK installed. Looking in the port in Southhampton though, I think this is one of Henrik's ships:

To be sure, I'll restart with Seafront disabled.

@Cpt_Piett To be sure which ones are from GAIST you can look in Little Navmap. The GAIST boats have names there. That one is from GAIST, yes.

*facepalm* Thanks, that's so much quicker than looking around in the English Channel with the drone cam... I think the one in my post above was from Seafront though. As it's gone now that I've disabled it.

This one just south of Portsmouth is GAIST though, verified by LNM:

@Alvega it seems to be working. Are you able to verify?

They will not be compatible nor do you need both. I will also not recommend using the bgl based GAIST at the same time though it is technically possible - I do have both real time and bgl version running during some test. But you will have more than enough ships with the real time version... 2000+ different ships with over 800 unique models and then world wide real time ship data...

Yes, that is mine... actually one of the oldest models in the collection Very low poly but that was necessary in FSX 😄
