What an impressive hotfix!

Recommended Posts

All I can say is that I am thoroughly impressed with V5.1 with its new Hotfix for quite a few reasons.  First of all I flew from Philly (KPHL) to Las Vegas (KLAS) with sliders pretty much to the right ...4 SSAA, 4096 resolution, and the flight went beautifully with no stutters or significant pauses at all.  I couldn't do that with V5.0.  It was absolutely impossible to go over 200 miles (for me, anyway) without serious stutters and an eventual shutdown with Ctrl/Alt/Del because it was so bad. Version 5.1 changed that, but I couldn't use EA because of the cloud blocks, etc.  The Hotfix changed EA for the better.

Perfect flight using EA today after I read a thread here on this forum that in order to see CLOUDS, you had to create a flight plan in Active Sky.  Wow!  Who knew?  After creating said flight plan, I was rewarded with gorgeous clouds during my flight across the width of the U.S.  I enjoyed really beautiful clouds that previously were not showing WITHOUT a flight plan.

This is a good hotfix. I'm very happy with P3D right now, and this 5 hour flight has made me a real believer in this sim.

Great job, LH.  Keep it up.

 Wow!  Who knew?

Well, seeing that AS puts up a banner across your screen saying something like "A flight plan has not yet been loaded in Active Sky, please load a flight plan for accurate weather.", that should not come as a surprise.

Can you confirm that AA is working ?

At Facebook and the LM forum several people are stating that AA has changed and AA on/off makes no difference..

http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6312&t=140453

I intend to upgrade this weekend but only if AA is working.

I agree it was a joy to install this Hotfix...   deleted the whole sim, cleaned the registry, restarted and installed the complete new sim , did the Active Sky update and  was back flying as if nothing had happened in less than an hour after download. All sceneries and aircraft apparently intact.

Way To Go LM !

(except FSLabs A320  and Aerosoft A320 hiccup)

I also have to say that I deleted all of 5.1 and reinstalled the entire sim with the Hotfix!  It's a pain putting in all the LatinVFR and FLYTampa scenery, but it's worth it in the end.  Orbx libraries stayed intact so no problem there.

Impressive. Yes!! Very smooth.

I’m not using EA at the moment.

but I noticed that when exiting p3d

It is still running in task manager.

What is causing this ?

it’s happening in previous v5 versions also.

thanks

Not working at my end. 4K monitor and within VR no AA at the moment. EA mode always in use. Not tested with EA "off".

Used always 2xMSAA or 2xSSAA.....I can use them all.....I see nothing "but jaggies". On 4K hard noticeable, within VR very noticeable.

Great update -- 11 minute download via Fiber; 30 minute install. Fixed all my problems. I think this should have been the 5.0 release candidate.....
