IPC request contains bad data

Recommended Posts

Hi.

What causes this problem?

Captura-de-ecr-2020-11-21-110532.png

I'm using P3D v5.1.12.26829, latest FSUIPC 6, latest makerunways...

The path to where you store flight plans is blank. Use the relevant button to point RC4 to it.

Thank you, Ray.

Are you talking about .FLT/.WX Path?

I reinstalled RC but the result was the same.

In so many years, this is the first time this has happened...

So what has changed if it used to work? That message is usually related to an incorrect version of FSUIPC. It's always best to name the version rather than "the latest".

Are you running RC4 with administrator privileges? And please confirm you have updated the scenery database.

So many things changed: P3D then was 32bits, FSUIPC was... another version. Even Windows was more or less diferent....

About the versions:

FSUIPC 6.0.10

MakeRwys 5.02

Prepar3D v5.1.12.26829

RC is running with administrador privileges.

About updated scenery database, maybe it has to do with the fact that I didn't run Lorby Scenery Export? Will test this now...

PS: not resolved.

You don’t need to use Lorby’s Scenery Export. Providing you have it installed MakeRwys.exe will call it when necessary.

You don’t say when this message appears. Is it after you have selected a flight plan and have pressed Start RC? Are you sure your flight plan is correctly formatted as an XML file?

P3D v5 is the same as v4 as far as RC is concerned. Where is RC4 installed? If it’s in Program Files (x86) that could be the problem. W10 is very protective about that folder.

If it is there I suggest you uninstall and use C:\RC4.

Good morning.

The message appears after press Start RC.

RC is instaled in C:\Software Prepar3D\rcv4x. It's really necessary reinstall in C:\?

That "formatted flightplan in XML file" is a new thing for me. Never did that...

Hi JA,

That folder is fine. Can you give me a link to your plan so I can check it’s okay? You’ll need to use Dropbox or a similar offline storage facility.

I'm flying at present so can't load it. See if this fixes it.

Same result:

IPC request contains bad data

One more thing: my P3D doesn't have the Modules folder.

That plan was converted to the same format I use for mine. Not critical clearly.

Do you have FSUIPC installed as an add-on? Shouldn't make any difference really. Does it appear in the Add-ons menu in P3D? Paid or free version? Shouldn't make any difference for RC purposes.

Check your RC4/data folder that the following files have been recently updated:-

c4.csv, f4.csv, f5.csv, a4.csv, r4.csv.

If you chose the add-on option to install FSUIPC6 please read through the readme that accompanied it. Here is the key part of the instructions:-

When using the 'add-on.xml' method of installation, the installer will create the add-on.xml file in a
subdirectory of your Prepar3D add-ons folder (which is by default located under your windows
Documents directory, called 'Prepare3D v4 Add-ons' or 'Prepare3D v5 Add-ons', depending upon
which version of P3D you are installing into) called FSUIPC6. If installing for use by both P3Dv4
and P3Dv5, the location of the P3Dv5 add-ons folder will be used.
Note that if you have changed the default location of your add-ons folder, then the add-on.xml
installation method may not work correctly, and you may have to either manually move the addon.
xml file created (after installation) or use the 'dll method' instead.

I'll check all of that in the next few hours.

Good Sunday to you and thanks for your help.

JA,

After I landed I switched to your departure airfield and successfully loaded your plan in P3Dv4.

I suspect the problem is associated with FSUIPC and whether you have it running. To prove this I renamed FSUIPC5.DLL so it wasn't loaded and positioned my aircraft at Bussleton. I loaded your plan into RC4 and when I pressed Start RC the message "IPC request contains bad data" appeared.

That confirms to me that you don't have FSUIPC running. You need to check your add-on folder and the DLL.XML file to see if there is an entry in there for FSUIPC6. Pete and John have changed the way FSUIPC6 is loaded in P3Dv5 but theirs is the way recommended by LM.

Good luck.
