Some have got it working but as I don’t have v5 I can’t say with any certainty.

I spent some time this morning flying circuits at LIPZ with the a/p on and whilst there was one instance of a slight deviation of the ailerons from neutral it wasn't sufficient to prevent a landing. I turned the a/p off and on several times to see if that was responsible.

I can't replicate this on a circuit so I'm currently flying EHAM-EGCC to see what happens on a normal flight. I'm pretty sure it's not the yoke even though it's the only thing that has changed because the numbers in FSUIPC don't support it being the problem. Just some kind of glitch in the 737 that's proving a bugger to find.

A post on the PMDG forum is unanswered so far suggesting they're as baffled as me.

Flight was fine and I took over around 6nm out for a good landing. On parking I notice the ailerons on the system display are very slightly up on the right and down on the left. Looking at the aileron trim on the Captain's yoke it's around one and a quarter degrees to the right.

Not going to worry about it unless it gets worse. Difficult to fathom. Maybe the extra sensitivity and accuracy of the Fulcrum is the cause.

Really strange that it is doing that. So the trim is matching the aileron position it seems. What happens if you centre the trim? Am installing p3d to try it out.

Chris, yes, trim matches ailerons in system panel. I have to apply left aileron to centre it. Is there a trim setting on the PMDG. Can’t find one.

Look forward to your findings. 👍

I wonder if there is some imbalance with the a/c (fuel distribution, rudder trim a bit off, etc) so that the autopilot applies some 'corrective' aileron trim that remains in effect after the autopilot is disconnected?

Fuel seems okay. Small differences because of the one used for the APU are there but nothing that would cause this. Rudder trim is zero. I run a LUA program on a separate PC that shows rudder, elevator and aileron trim but no clues there. The readings in FSUIPC are correct. The imbalance is within the PMDG system.

If you have it and have Autosave in FSUIPC enabled check the AilTrim reading in the sav file created when Autosave runs. Around line 800.

The aileron trim control is approximately in the center on the bottom (end) of the console between the seats.  Look just to the left of the large white knob.

Thanks Al, I’ll check that tomorrow now. Never had to bother about it with the cheap Saitek. Can’t imagine I have that mapped to any buttons because yesterday it went out of trim on its own accord.

I’m sure it’s controllable via FSUIPC as I have lots of switches controlled using PMDG’s SDK. 👍 Could be my get out of jail card.

I couldn't wait until tomorrow so fired up the sim to take a look. They couldn't have put it in a more tricky place than right at the back of the centre pedestal. Even with ChasePlane it's virtually impossible to create a view where the aileron trim buttons and the System display are both visible.

Fortunately there is a command in the SDK I can use -

#define EVT_FCTL_AILERON_TRIM                        (THIRD_PARTY_EVENT_ID_MIN + 810)

I'll map that to a toggle switch so I can easily centre it should it drift. This should fix the problem Chris because even if the ailerons drift from neutral I now have a way to fix them. I've never spotted that control before.

You could even map it to the right hand rocker switch!

Note as you move the aileron trim switches, the yoke in the VC moves and there is a pointer attached to the yoke that moves relative to a scale on the yoke's column to measure the trim setting.

I have that reserved for Radar Contact and GSX menu. Plenty of toggle switches on my crappy Logitech throttle quadrant though. 😁

Found it, thanks. I've set up a view in ChasePlane so I can monitor it easily. I'll map the commands to the switches tomorrow. Problem solved in all probability. 👍

I've programmed a toggle switch to trim the ailerons. Just going to try it out now with a flight. This is an excellent article on how to do it for the PMDG737NGX. It should be very similar for the u variant.
