Thanks for the heads-up.

Am posting the Changelog for those that are interested below:

Changelog – RC4 B7638 (November 29, 2020)

  • ASP3D EA Volumetric cloud configuration adjustments based on RC3 feedback (much softer look, less edge detail, stratus layers re-introduced, and other various adjustments)
  • EA dynamic cloud movement improvements with wind
  • EA visual consistency improvements during transitions and sim UI use
  • EA smooth theme reload consistency improvements to prevent sync issues and reduce potential rapid transitions
  • EA smooth theme reload transition acceleration implemented during location changes/manual refreshes
  • EA volumetric fog smoothing improvements to sync with new smooth theme reload improvements
  • Fixed compatibility issue with P3D v5.1 RTM (without HF1) causing connection issues and other dpeiction problems – NOTE: HF1 or later is REQUIRED for proper ASP3D functionality and full feature set including EA smooth theme reloads – 5.1 RTM will now operate without major errors, but is not officially supported and not recommended

Perfect update. Clouds look so much better and less pixelated. Departed from a foggy and overcast Stockholm and it transitioned nicely from the fog layer through the clouds.

I too think it is much better compared to the RC3 version of ASP3D. Now I like it much better.

What LM needs to solve is grid at overcast and orange/red skies and clouds at dawn and dusk. Also at high cloud draw distances the clouds are way to high at horizon. They must match earth instead of rising in the air so high.

So no need to adjust values in volumetric cloud cfg??

in asp3d shall it be checked or unchecked?

thanks

Unchecked in ASP3D if you want them to handle the parameters.

Checked if you want P3D uses his volumetricclouds.cfg (this is the same where you can edit values).

No need to tweak at the moment I think because ASP3D handles it very well so far.

I'm totally dissapointed with this soft clouds update. At my taste the clouds has turned extremely soft.

Please HifiSimtech don't be so soft with clouds.

Cheers

Ok, so the verdict is unchecked ?

and delete the volumetric cfg and let it rebuild as I do atm have the tweaks in the cfg as advised in previous posts

thanks

The majority of feedback preferred the soft look to reduce pixelation problems.  We understand this is not ideal for everyone.  You can adjust this fortunately, and we will be looking to provide tools for users to adjust easily to their preference in the future.

That is recommended for now, but if you don't like it, go ahead and check it and try default or adjust the values.. there are a few examples recently posted here in this forum.

Is a re-install required or can this be installed over RC3?

EDIT: Please disregard, answer found at the site for the download link.

Looking forward to trying RC4...I was impressed with what was done with RC3.  Are CB clouds possible with EA??  I wasn't sure if it was capable of doing thunderstorms or not....

Hi,

Thanks for your help. Could you help me about how could I adjust this settings please? Maybe I didn't understood at all if you were referring that next version will provide tools for easy adjustments or if currently we can tweak it.

Richard
