PMDG ngxu reverse thrust sound missing,v5.1 HF1

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else had this issue.  Reverse thrust sound is nearly missing.  I have tried all sound options in Sim and NGXu sound options.  It is present but very, very quiet.  I have even tried the NGXu sound emersion package to no avail.  It was fine and even loud in 4.5.

Any thoughts, ideas or tweaks.

Thanks

I did so on both the PMDG forum and P3D.  Responses are usually much more forthcoming on this forum.  With the lack of responses it appears the issue resides just in my system so I will troubleshoot some more.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Have you tried a reinstall of the Immersion sounds?  I think I had something similar happen before after PMDG did an update and I did a reinstall of the Immersion package and that fixed it.  I have the NGXu working fine with the immersion sound addon on latest 5.1hf.

Go into Control Panel -> Sound -> Communications and make sure "Do nothing" is the selected option.

Any time I encounter a situation where some sounds are attenuated while others work normally, that's the first thing I check.  I think the Windows default is "Reduce the volume of other sounds by 50%"  If some of the sounds are being generated by a gauge, and others through the P3D sound system, Windows may be detecting one of them as "communications activity" and then attenuating the sounds coming from other sources per that setting.

Hey,

Your issue is slightly complex.  As I do not have this issue.  I dunno what is going on hence the suggestion on their site.  Maybe clean reinstall.  The clean part is key as PMDG loads all the files all over the sim root directory.  Which could result in full uninstall of sim or pmdg.

You could try uninstall and then deleting the pmdg directory in the sim root and then reinstall the addon.  As I said slightly complex to fix.  In the sim, check the sound options in the pmdg settings via the fms.

Thanks for the replies.  I have messed with it for a long time.  The sound is there but all the other rumble and sounds are drowning it out.  It is probably more like what the crew hears.  I just love hearing it kick in loudly.   I have adjusted and adjusted within the P3D and PMDG to get it more to my liking but to no avail.  I don't really know what changed from 4.5 to 5 but you could certainly hear reverse sound kick in and fade in 4.5.   I have tried some adjusting in my Sound Blaster stereo but haven't found the answer yet.  I guess I will adjust to it.

Thanks again for the comments and if anyone has a suggesting I would sure try it.
