December 7, 20205 yr I just D/L'ed "2020" recently (XBox for PCs - ya know, a buck for a month to try it out). The first thing I did was to print-out all the new key assignments, about 15 pages, to have a quick reference in front of me - helps a whole lot to learn this newfangled sim..
December 7, 20205 yr Is it broke? In a lot of areas, yes. Is your issue one of them? I don’t think so. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Very sensible thing to do, and i hope your enjoying the sim 🙂 . Thats the right approach, exhaust all options and possbile fixes before coming here pretending the sim is broken.
December 7, 20205 yr Since you came from P3D it should be obvious to you that you have to make your own personal settings as you are hardly counted as a newbie. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I

December 7, 20205 yr Author Thanks for your input. This is going to be a gradual process to learn. It’ll take a lot of trial and error. I guess my next issue is getting all the updates. When I downloaded the sim it only gave me the option to upgrade Global USA and I am sure there’s been more than one update. Sorry about my complete ignorance but I just got my new computer and sim. December 7, 20205 yr Is it broken? Yes, but not what you're having issues with. The controls are different so you will have to change/get used to them. This sim has way worse issues, so be prepared.

Sorry about my complete ignorance but I just got my new computer and sim. No problem, we all have or have had questions. The sim updates are included in the version you download at the time. The USA and Japan, and some free items included are separate downloads, once you have the sim running, look for them in the market place I believe? At least they should still be separate downloads? Good luck, and have fun. Ask whatever questions you need too. Are you brand new to flight sim, or just MSFS? December 7, 20205 yr When the sim is installed, it will include all past mandatory updates. Future mandatory updates will appear in the "Checking for updates" screen that you see early in the start up process. Optional updates, such as the World Update USA and World Update Japan, can be found in the Market Place. (They are free, but you have to "buy" them). Also check Content Manager. At some point, Asobo or Microsoft changed things such that a brand new installation installs just the basics. If you only see two planes when selecting a plane to fly, the rest are in Content Manager. Same with a bunch of the hand crafted airports. ...jim ASUS Prime Z790-E, Intel i9 13900K, 32Gb DDR5 Ram, Nvidia 3090 24Gb, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500 GB and 1 TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 Ultrawide 49" G-SYNC Monitor.

Having to "buy" the free updates is counterintuitive and going to create ongoing issues confusing every batch of new players. You sometimes have to wonder what MS were thinking with a few of their odder decisions.

Most of the seemingly odd decisions with GUI functionality (or perhaps more accurately described as not so intuitive when you have a mouse available) is probably related to making an easy functional flow when using an XBox and its controller as the main selection device. December 8, 20205 yr Author Mates - thank you plenty for the information. It saved me a lot of time. I managed to get the 360 view using that hatch switch on my new Alpha yoke. I will be moving into the more complex configurations (jetliners and graphics settings). Having you guys around make a world of difference.
December 8, 20205 yr I struggle to understand how anyone can complain about a broken sim and realism when what they are actually trying to achieve is look around using a hat switch. If that's the only option I had, I think I'd give up simming . Track IR all the way.
