And that, is not even close to what he said. Chock... go and read again the quote, what he actually said. Yes, when he received criticism for it he back tacked. But the statement he made was clear. There s a video of it on YouTube if you want to see it. Again... "“I haven’t changed my opinion … If you have tried everything else — and women are pretty good at this — they can’t leave it alone,” “They want to have the last word and you give them the last word, but they’re not happy with the last word. They want to say it again, and get into a really provocative situation, then I think it’s absolutely right.” Absolutely crystal clear that he was advocating "a slap" for simple provocation. I'm not really interested in his attempt to back track after the negative reaction his opinions received. Edited December 14, 20205 yr by martin-w

And the reason he did that was not because what he was saying was terrible, it's because people failed to understand that he was being forthright about a less than black and white situation which people who like to over-simplify things steadfastly ignore in favour of blanket PC opinions. So I suspect it was more about the fact that sometimes the truth is not going to make you popular. With that in mind, I wouldn't mind betting his agent, or possibly a film production company's marketing department, told him to tone it down. With that in mind, I wouldn't mind betting his agent, or possibly a film production company's marketing department, told him to tone it down. Of course he backtracked as a career move. And of course he hadn't changed his mind. His opinion was clear. He advocated slapping a women for provocation. Which is OBVIOUSLY wrong, unacceptable. You agree? Yes? And agree he said and meant that? So agree his opinion was wrong? His opinion was stated in a form easy to interpret. The situation he was referring to wasn't "less than black and white" either... it was simple provocation he advocated hitting a women for. There was no "over simplification". Of courser the truth wont make you popular if that "truth" is hitting a women for just provocation. Quote not because what he was saying was terrible Good grief! O f course what he was saying was terrible. Hit a person back, male or female, if they are attacking you and you need to defend yourself... but OBVIOUSLY you don't hit a women in the face for being provocative. My second question would be, "Why did you come here?" I hope this gets us back on topic. Something that has always bothered me about Star TrekNG. While the Enterprise can travel at Warp 9 radio communications are limited to the speed of light. So when they get a distress call and Data says it will take three days to get there at Warp 9 it means that it took 9 days for the message to get to them and add 3 days to respond they will arrive 12 days after the event. On the subject of which, how many people here have seen what they believe to be a genuinely unidentifiable object? I've seen two, which at the time were unidentifiable by me, but one of which was later reported to have been an exploding meteorite. That meteorite (if it was indeed such a thing) left a huge and very long bright green trail behind it as it passed overhead and made a very audible 'whoosh' sound. It was about as bright as a Very Light flare. Pretty amazing sight, although I have to concede that the explanation of it being an exploding meteorite does seem at least plausible, although I'm certainly no expert on such things. Nevertheless, there were two guys up ahead of me on the other side of the road on the night I saw it, and when it went over us and they saw it too, they both panicked and started running, which is a bit of a bizarre reaction. The one thing I do think which casts a bit of doubt on the 'meteorite exploding as it hit the atmosphere' explanation, is that it looked like it was at fairly low altitude to me - perhaps only a few thousand feet up - and as noted it also made a very audible whoosh sound as it passed overhead, which I'm fairly certain does not occur with meteorites since there would have been a considerable delay in the sound of something burning up in the atmosphere reaching me, if indeed there was sufficient atmosphere to allow any sound to be transmitted to me. The fact that there appeared to be little to no delay in the sound reaching me allied to its movement overhead leads me to conclude it was indeed fairly low down. The other sighting was a bit harder to explain away: I watched a very bright light moving slowly, low down along the horizon at night, for a period of about 20 minutes. Then it dropped down behind some trees approximately a mile from me, and there was a glow visible from the trees where it had descended. After about ten minutes, something lifted off which had all kinds of lights all over it in a multitude of colours including yellow, white, orange, blue and red, these not in any configuration which resembled any sort of aircraft nav lights I've ever come across. The thing moved back along the horizon and climbed slightly, then all the coloured lights went out leaving just one very bright light on its own, and a second or so after that occurred, it shot straight up at incredible speed, disappearing out of sight in less than a second or so. To this day I have absolutely no idea what that thing could have been, but it certainly did not move like any aeroplane I've ever heard of, in addition to this, there was no sound of any engines at all. Very bizarre. Edited December 14, 20205 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Noel Nope, they communicate in Star Trek via "sub-space" a kind of higher dimensional space. So comms are real time. Instantaneous. Why Picard and the like can carry out real time conversations. 🙂

He said he saw what looked like a spark across the sky, high altitude. He grabbed his camera and just caught the tail of it. Sounded like it was a meteorite skipping off the atmosphere. daylight though. Quote The fact that there appeared to be little to no delay in the sound reaching me allied to its movement overhead leads me to conclude it was indeed fairly low down. Hmm, tricky one. From the description, a green tail, does sound liker something burning up in the atmosphere. They do make a whoosh sound too. The whoosh sound was probably not the burning up, probably just the interaction with the air. Quote The other sighting was a bit harder to explain away: I watched a very bright light moving slowly, low down along the horizon at night, for a period of about 20 minutes. Because those people aren't human. Now you might say, "okay Martin, clever clogs, then given evolution is dependant on RANDOM mutations, how come they look like us?". Then I would say, its the principle of convergent evolution, where nature tends to find the same solution to a given problem. 🙂
December 14, 20205 yr Administrators Saw several meteors burning in the atmosphere. This was up at over 7,000 feet at Donner summit. Great sky viewing up there. Definite green tail and whooshing sound. I think they said on the radio that it was the size of a walnut. As to Star Trek TNG, Don't forget about all of the sub-space relay stations throughout the Federation.
