YSPT Southport AUscener on marketplace.

Featured Replies

The AUscene addon for YSPT on the Australian Gold Coast has been out for a while but I put off buying it till it made it to the marketplace.

YSPT is a private airstrip with hangers full of very expensive aircraft that is very difficult in real life to get permission to land. Partly because it is exclusive and partly becasue it is a short very narrow runway surrounded by trees with a displaced threshhold at both ends.

I am very impressed with the quality of this addon. below are a couple of quick videos in case anyone is curious.

The first is a taxi and takeoff in an Iris jabiru 160:

Next is a landing in Robert Young's Turbo bonanza:

Finally a full circuit (6.5 minutes) in the realism mod C152X in the rain:

Hi all,

I took a look at this one recently. A super nice airport for this area and we can even see Skippy 🙂

Indeed, I saw that review.

It is one of the reasons I decided to buy it once it appeared on the in game marketplace.

I love those types of airports. Are you running on ultra? Scenery looks great.

For locations like that I run ultra with LOD bumped up to 200, super sampling increased to 8x8 and rendering set at 120 or thereabouts. I only have a 2060 but it gives OK FPS on those good settings for the airports I typically fly from like that one, NZA Rotorua, Key West, Innsbruck etc etc

I do wind the graphics back a fair bit on the rare occasion I fly out of somewhere like O'Hare or JFK though that is not often as I mainly fly GA and VFR.

I tend to vary my graphics settings depending on where I am flying.

I love this kind of feedback. Huge thanks Glenn.

As for the settings I think we run our sims in the same way. MSFS as really pushed me away from the big iron aircraft and into these small props. Just to admire the world more.

For all people slate it when you look at what has really been achieved here its truly incredible.

Absolutely.

The sim is ideal for light GA aircraft flown with stick and rudder without autopilot and little airports like this make the experience all the more amazing.

Though I must admit that narrow runway with displaced thresholds makes thing interesting with the current twitchy ground handling 😄

Yeah it seems to be a combination of oversensitivity to rudder input on the ground (even if you try and mitigate by reducing sensitivity in controls) combined with a CoG issue and excess effect of crosswind and/or spiral slipstream. it is worse in some aircraft than others, the C152 and Rob Young's Turbo Bonanza are among the better behaved..  Taking off without flaps helps but that is not a lot of use in the landing roll or under brakes.
