Trying To Get Aerosoft's HTKJ Kilimanjaro working in P3Dv5+

Featured Replies

This is the Kilimanjaro airport for P3Dv4:

https://www.aerosoft.com/en/flight-simulation/flight-simulator-x-steam/sceneries/1261/kilimanjaro-airport-2015

iniBuilds has correction stuff to get this to work in P3Dv5, but I can't get it working.

I'm going to need some help with this.

I did the download and install and just told the installer to use P3Dv5 instead of P3Dv4

I installed the Dynamic Lighting library stuff from iniBuilds:

https://forum.inibuilds.com/files/file/620-inibuilds-dynamic-lighting-effect-library/.

https://forum.inibuilds.com/files/file/621-aerosoft-kilimanjaro/

Then the file correction:

https://inibuilds.ams3.digitaloceanspaces.com/p3dv5-compatibility-files/iniB HTKJ P3Dv5 CF.zip

This isn't working on my end.

I just get the blank airfield with Kilimanjaro in the background.

It does work in P3Dv4 though..

Any thoughts?

Strange, but I guess it must be the patch from Simmershome that makes it work here. I did not install the inibuilds DL patch, only the exclude file.

I have written to Rainer at Simmershome to see if his patch is still available somewhere.

Basic but worth asking, did you add the entry manually into the scenery.cfg? Since it won't do it as it is looking for v4 scenery.cfg

The scenery works just fine in v5, but it needs exclusions added for the default buildings and signage--either the iniBuilds compatibility fix or your own ADE with default buildings and signage imported and then deleted.

I had it already installed in v4, so I added a reference to it in the v5 scenery library using the Lorby-SI P3D Addon Manager, then added a new scenery area in v5 with just the exclusion file in it, and placed that layered below the entry that points to the v4 install.  There are no elevation or effects files to mess with.

I have Lorby-SI so I'll give this a try.  I've not done what you've described with it before, but I guess I can figure it out 🙂

There is a video on youtube showing how to set up an exclusion area on payware airports.

It literally takes 2 minutes and you can make as many as you need with ADE.

Definitely worth watching..

Thanks, I'll take a look.

The problem that I  have with this airport in P3Dv5.1 is that it just wouldn't show up after installation and even after doing the patch.

One thing about P3D installers that use the xml method is that when they ask for the installation location, that's where the scenery itself will be installed...but if it's not asking for which sim, then it has to be getting the location of the add-ons.cfg file from the registry, and for the particular version the installer was written for.  More than likely your P3Dv4 installer put the scenery where you wanted, but was trying to put the scenery library config files into v4, or it didn't find the v4 directory path and it didn't add it to the scenery library at all.

I always check the scenery library after an installation with P3D Addon Manager to make sure it got added, and to then add it to my regional scenery groups.

Very valuable information, w6dk.  Thank you.

I agree with Bob here - did the scenery even get added to the sim? Lorby's addon manager is the way to go. Easiest way to add sceneries through the addon.xml method.
