December 1, 200619 yr I purchased xClass Europe and it's a great improvement over default FSX :-jumpy Thank you for these products and the regular updates! FSX just gets better and better! Are you planning other areas, how about Australia or SE Asia? I realise you are limited by available data, but any improvement over default FSX is welcome. I will buy them all! :)
December 1, 200619 yr I got the same error msg and renamed "readme.txt" to "readme.old" in the Cloud9/ClassX folder then retried the install. This time it finished by telling me I already had the update installed. I checked and sure enough I had already updated the product. First time in my life I forgot I had already done something....Best regards,Jim
December 1, 200619 yr WOW!!!! I can't believe what you accomplished with this update. Your landclass was great before, now it's superb! Now I have the "patchwork" farmlands I was missing before, more trees, and more rural autogen. Before this update I had no autogen outside of villages, and it's something I missed. Now I have a lot of rural autogen and it hasn't affected frame rates at all. I just took a quick flight around my home area nnd it looks nearly perfect. Then the next big test...switching to Winter. YAY! SNOW! And it looks great. Thanks a lot for this great product and the quick update.Jim
December 2, 200619 yr Wow is right! That patch fixed all my problems with autogen and random textures out of place. Trees are now the right type and the right number and man what a difference from stock. Take a look at devils tower below. The first shot is the default land class of a Wyoming with the standard desert and the second shot is with the new cloud9 landclass. Look how green and alive the 2nd shot is. I have been to devils tower in summer and it looks just like that in real life. You guys did it! Great work and without a doubt the best 10 bucks i've ever spent. ;) No loss in frame rate either and in some cases a boost! Awesome. Now if you can get the snow in there this will be the defacto upgrade ;)default fsx lanclass *yuk* - http://www.astrodave.net/fsx/dtfsxlc.jpgcloud9 landclass *wow* - http://www.astrodave.net/fsx/dtc9lc.jpgNo more great north american desert, woohoo!
December 3, 200619 yr I just bought it myself and call me crazy but I don't see any major difference. I had thought that the Thames river In London would be fixed with this but it wasn't. It seems like a nice product for the price and I usually have no complaint with cloud 9 but I guess I was expecting something a lot more like ge pro. This will be uninstalled very quickly if ge pro for fsx is ever released. Maybe it's just me but does this scenery need to be activated like in fs9 or is it just install and go because maybe my install didn't go right Thanks for any help.
December 3, 200619 yr Umberto,Bravo with the updated landclass product...excellent improvement and a great value! What is the best way to give you Lat/Long information with suggestions? I live in Connecticut, USA, and outside of the major cities like Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport...there are many "towns", like Meriden.Just outside of KMMK (lat N41 31.08, W72 49.72) the landclass seems to show "urban" with large blocks of large buildings....when there is, in fact, just suburbs with some very small "town" buildings in a center. This kind of "urban" would be better modelled as the "suburban" that surrounds it...and this is true for all of CT outside the major urban. Thanks for a great product...please let me know if I can provide more information for you.P.S. The DCA area looks fantastic with the landclass! Used to live there and it really is good now.Bill KBDL
December 3, 200619 yr Now if there were just a way to prevent any tree, building tower ect from being placed on the short approach off a runway it would be great.Stock FSX I notice a few runways, the ones I know well of course, that have either a big tree, tower or building on the glideslope.Cloud9 has these also.Is there a way to prevent autogen from being placed off the ends of runways?
December 3, 200619 yr The whole Northern Va/DC/Wva area looks great now. I flew the R22 VFR from Front Royal, Va. to the capital building in downtown DC following over route 66 East tonight (breaking all airspace and ADIZ rules of course) and it was perfectly modeled. I do most of my flying in this area since it's where I live and the improvement is amazing. I honestly don't know why MS didn't release the product like this. It's like having an all new improved fsx now. You really get an idea of how great the default fsx textures are when they are aligned correctly with this landclass. I swear in some instances at 3 or 4k feet it looks almost photoreal now. This has changed my whole outlook on the game. Still only getting 12fps in cities, but in the burbs I am 30+FPS solid with midrange sliders using the tweaks. Too bad these guys don't have an entire world landclass available!
December 3, 200619 yr Commercial Member >I had thought that the Thames river In>London would be fixed with this Yes, you probably expected something else from the product. A Landclass scenery can't do much to fix shapes and polygons like rivers, roads, lakes, etc. The only thing that gets improved with a better landclass, it's the placement of the textures, so you'll have a better "base" for other kind of scenery, like vtp (polygons) or mesh (terrain shape)>but I guess I was expecting something a lot more>like ge pro. This will be uninstalled very quickly if ge pro>for fsx is ever released.Ge Pro wouldn't probably suffice to fix a river, except for its colour. You'll probably want something like Ultimate Terrain, eventuall coupled with Ge Pro, but then we aren't talking 9.99 Dollars anymore...I don't think a truly native version of Ge Pro could be released very quickly, if they want to do it right. The replacement textures should be redone at 1024x1024 resolution, and FSX has a lot more variations compared to FS9 (I think it's about 7500 textures now), and if you take into account the Autogen that should come with each new texture, It's an huge work. Not to mention startup time and HD space. Just compare how much time it takes to Ge Pro to generate a new set of textures in FS9, and imagine that multiplied by the fact that each file is 16 times bigger, and there are much more to copy.>Maybe it's just me but does this>scenery need to be activated like in fs9 or is it just install>and go because maybe my install didn't go right Thanks for any>help. There is no activation for this product, installation is very trivial, there is really nothing that could go wrong, except for some reason (locked file, permission problems, another program opening your scenery.cfg and not closing it properly) your scenery.cfg wasn't updated. In that case, just add the scenery manually from the Scenery Library menu, it will be found at FSXCloud9XCLEU or XCLUS.regards,Umberto Colapicchioni Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
December 3, 200619 yr It's probably my mistake originally though. I purchased the product online (11/29)and d/l it but, expecting a confirmation e-mail, I didn't pay attention to serial number and such. Now I can't go past the serial screen. I sent you guy (sales@...) 3 e-mails and haven't had a response yet.

December 3, 200619 yr Commercial Member >I sent you guy (sales@...)>3 e-mails and haven't had a response yet.You should have received a confirmation email with serial immediately. Probably something on your end filtered the email. However, there's a backup way to get your serial from here:https://store5.esellerate.net/store/support/Default.aspx Umberto Colapicchioni http://www.fsdreamteam.com FSDT on Facebook
December 3, 200619 yr but still waiting for the e-mail... Is it instant-response? I do have filters but I always check my delete folder. The confirmation of my forum subscription was received OK.
December 3, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi Craig,And it's still quite good in FSX . . . :-)Although there is an FSG USLC update coming very soon, no need to wait for it. The current USLC works fine in FSX. Just download the manual-install version and install it to Addon Sceneryscenery. Or simply copy from your FS9 location to FSX.Not much has really changed in the landclass engine between versions. There are some new classes in FSX that weren't there in FS9, and a couple of them have changed slightly. But we still have the 1.2 km grid, as before.A quick comparison between the Cloud9 and FSG US Landclasses reveal that they are both very similar, so this new one is much the same as the the FSG landclass that has been available for over three years. They are both very good, and both a great improvement over the default. One will probably be better than the other in some areas, and one will probably not be as good as the other in other areas.Only thing that has changed, then, is that there are now two good landclass products available, so there is now an additional choice.-------Justinhttp://www.fsgenesis.netHigh Quality Scenery for FS200x ________________ Justin - Toposim http://www.toposim.net
