TOO dark in cockpit in P3D v5.1 HF1

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My cockpit in p3d v5.1 HF1 is too dark. I have adjusted light settings in p3d but it was not really good. Is there any suggestions for it?

Thank you.

Specific addon or across all aircraft?

The PMDG NGXu cockpit is very dark for me when I turn on EA (and HDR with it). It seems to be an issue when EA is turned on. I'm using Envshade to lighten up the cockpit until this is fixed.

Just one thing to check if you have an Nvidia GPU. There is a setting on the "Change Resolution" tab in NCP that you should check. It is called "Output Dynamic Range", and should be set to "Full". If it is set to "Limited" it.... well... it limits the number of colors that can be displayed at both ends of the spectrum - white & black. If it is set to limited, change it to full. I have to tick the button that says "Use Nvidia color settings" before I can change Output Dynamic Range. When set to limited on my system whites seem too bright, and darks seem too dark. It might not be your problem, but getting things to look right is much more difficult if it is set wrong.

Also, my cockpit is pretty dark until I turn on the cockpit lighting. When starting cold & dark, remember that LM added a flashlight to 5.1. Press the "\" key once to get a white flashlight, twice to get a red flashlight, and 3 times to turn it off.

Thanks, I didn't know this feature was available.

I have a feeling it is linked to HDR with EA on. Try turning off HDR in the P3D config.

HDR=0

This is what I use in combination with Reshade.

It is unusually dark...even more than before. And EA doesn't make it better either. But without it in some cases doesn't look that nice....I found "golden" solution that helps me...In Chase plane I set up couple buttons to increase and decrease HDR. It looks much better when I need. Specially when taxi at night time...

Hi,

Which index did you adjust to light up cockpit in envshade?

Do 3rd party shader applications give options for cockpit lighting?

Like in P3D v4 and TomatoShade where there are separate lighting config options for the VC.

Cheers R

Not in Envshade, I just made quick access for HDR lights adjustments in Chase Plane (so I don't have to go to P3D settings). So, at dark and night flying (specially FSL), I turn HDR up/brighter and it is much "nicer". Once land at night that helps me too.....during day I tonne them down to my liking. I played with Evshade and I didn't accomplished absolutely nothing and wondering if it works, unless I have completely bad settings or don't know how too use it.
