African Airports?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about to purchase ORBX African Ladclass but am hesitating because of the airports. Are there any HQ African airports? I don't expect latest FlyTampa or FlightBeam level of accuracy but something like Drzw.Design (never know how to spell). Do you have some suggestions?

There's also Angolan freeware airpots here: https://www.flyavagroup.org/scenery-donwload.html

I contributed to the Luanda FNLU scenery by way of the groundpoly and dynamic lights. Though this scenery is not officially compatible with P3Dv5, it mostly works.

My thoughts about Orbx OLC Africa...

As for airports. See my pics regarding FYWH and FYWB from FSDG:

Bob didn't mention FSDG's FALE in his list.
I also think Prealsoft's GMMN + separate Casablanca city scenery is worth looking at

Wouldn't touch the NMG stuff.
If you're desperate for FAOR, you could look at Gaffer Sim instead - it looks better.

For some additional freeware:

DAAG - Algiers Int'l, Algeria (by Riad Ghenim)
FAKN - Kruger Mpumalanga Int'l, South Africa (Aeroworx)
FASZ - Skukuza, South Africa (Aeroworx)
FMNN - Nosy Bé-Fascene, Madagascar (Free Scenery Designs)
FMST - Toliara (Tuléar), Madagascar (Free Scenery Designs)

There's nothing in Africa that screams 'high quality', you have to love the continent to feel like it's worth spending your money. There are about 10 airports that make it worthwhile for me.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti VENTUS 3X; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

DTTJ - Djerba

DTNH - Enfidha

I know you have an aversion to NMG but the latest FAOR is quite acceptable, and is on special. Their FAPE is good also.

Don't bother with NGM FAOR. South World Scene is supposed to bring their FAOR out relatively soon and it's bound to be a large step above NMG. That said, SWS has said before that they were going to release FAOR soon and it never happened... But this time it seems as though it actually is close to release!

Also two more payware airports that are quite nice but very small:

This is preventing me to buy Orbx Africa.  I need tons of Orbx Payware quality airports for this region of the world.  What is the point flying into bland default airports.

FSDG just released FYWB (Walvis bay) and FYWH (Windhoek) in Namibia recently - I must still get those. I think they are working on FAOR

The way between. Maybe two airports or even one is enough if you fly from Gibraltar to Maroc or maybe across the desert to a place in western Africa. Or from Egypt (Cairo) to somewhere in Southafrica?

GBYD by Grand Island Sim is quite nice too and a popular holiday destination.

Would love FSDG to do some more Moroccan airports: Essaouira, Tangier, Fez, Rabat...

I have Rabat from Fsxcenery https://secure.simmarket.com/fsxcenery-gmme-rabat-sale-airport-fsx-p3d.phtml

It is not really todays standard but I reworked the Afcad a bit and it's better than default now. Sure FSDG would be better but how often do I fly there?

I wonder if anyone has figured out adding SODE or GSX Jetways and Dynamic Lights to LivingFS' Lagos scenery?
