December 20, 20205 yr Quote The US ambition to build a nuclear power plant on the moon by 2027, which may contribute to future lunar military projects, shows it seeks space supremacy regardless of the damage and dangers it may cause to people, Chinese experts on military and international relations said.Establishing a nuclear power plant on the moon by the end of 2027 was included in a number of specific goals in a memorandum signed by US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, which is known as Space Policy Directive 6 (SPD-6). The plant would "support a sustained lunar presence and exploration of Mars," SPD-6 said.Military purposes are likely to be behind the establishment, Chinese military expert and commentator Song Zhongping said. https://www.globaltimes.cn/content/1210357.shtml Seems the Chinese are getting worried about the prospect of nuclear reactors on the Moon. I like the way they define "may" as will. 🙂 Edited December 20, 20205 yr by martin-w
December 20, 20205 yr I'm sure many of us have watched Space 1999 that great Gerry Anderson TV series; Moon blasted out of Earth's orbit. A bit political, but Quote the signing of SPD-6 also shows the US' intention of dragging China into a space race, trying to divert China's attention to an endless consumption of national resources for the race from improving its economy and people's livelihood, Li said Since when has the CCP been about improving it's subject's livelihood?? Economic increase yes, people's wellbeing? Not so much.. Don't worry, that "evil German organisation" base shaped like a swastika has already cornered the enitre Helium -3 stockpile on the moon Edited December 20, 20205 yr by HighBypass word not allowed clarification Mark Robinson Part-time Ferroequinologist Author of FLIGHT: A near-future short story (ebook available on amazon) I made the baby cry - A2A Simulations L-049 Constellation Sky Simulations MD-11 V2.2 Pilot. December 20, 20205 yr It's about time we got to work on a moon base. No doubt there will be a military component to the base, but I'm sure it will also be used for exploration, mining, Mars mission, etc. I stopped listening to Chinese Communist Party propaganda, which is any communication from Chinese media or govt., a long time ago. The CCP would love to have a moon base to further their goal of world domination. I also think that very existence of the "Space Force" should come under serious review. James M Driskell, Maj USMC (Ret)

But I hope the new administration doesn't cut the funding for putting the next man and first women on the moon, or a moon base, or landing a person on Mars. There's no reason why all capable nations can't have their own bases if they are capable of doing so, and working together in the new frontier. Edited December 20, 20205 yr by martin-w

The Chinese are just panicking because they're not as advanced technologically and behind in their Moon exploration endeavours.

Of course there are no "saints",especially where countries are concerned. Consider this, however: the United States has been the most benevolent "empire" in history. Despite its immense power during the 20th century, the U.S. did not engage in conquering other nations, which it could have easily done. Yes, the U.S. made mistakes with unnecessary wars here and there, and yes, the U.S. engaged in strong-arming other nations at times, but the U.S has welcomed many millions of immigrants from all over the world over the years, and has helped many nations. All in all the world has been a more peaceful and safe place because of the Unites States, with help from many allies. Now replace that world "empire" with China.
