Thanks for the heads-up on this.  It looks excellent.  For £2.99 in the UK, it has to be worth a go.  I could use it on my Samsung pad.

Just a quick one.  Can you confirm it uses google maps?  As I am not too keep on Openmap - I don't think it is as clear or detailed.

Just saw a screenshot - definitely Google Maps - good!  I bought it.  👍

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

FltPlan Go connects to MSFS (as well as the other simconnect simulators). Because it is designed for real world pilots to use in the cockpit, the moving map uses aero-charts. There is fuel and flight planning. It is free to use for personal use.

This is a great tool.  I use it for every flight.

Couple observations:

I can never get the speed to display

Can you add ability to see and to set zoom level?

Speed displays on the top line, together with altitude and heading.

Pinch and zoom works.

Bought it!

Pretty good tool especially for “Grasshopper” contracts on SkyPark, helps find those hidden grass strips...

...thanks for the recommendation @Ricardo41

LittleNavMap also has a built in web server that you can pull up on a tablet.

I would love to give it a try, but the install button in google play is not operative at the moment.  It is like they have suspended downloads for a while.  Strange!

You know Bobcat, I use it on iPad so didn't think about it on Android. My apologies....

No problem Yurei, it is not your fault.  👍

It is actually listed on Google Play for Android devices, and it says all my devices are compatible with it (Samsung S8 phone and Samsung A7 pad), but it just isn't available for download at the moment.  The download / install button is greyed-out and non-functional.

Strange.  The last update was 28th of October 2020.  Maybe it is not available for download in the UK?

It must be another exclusion for the UK then.  It seems we are nobody's friend at the moment!  😄

I am about to try FSMapTool now anyway.  I will report back.  👍

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

So...  FS Map Tool.

Install was easy.  You get the server software from their website.  I ran it, and if you right click on it in the task bar, it gives you the right IP address (which is good as my desktop is showing two for some reason, .15 and .26)

I downloaded the app to my pad.  Ran it.  Entered my desktop IP address.  Then it kept saying 'waiting for server data...'  So I went to my ESET firewall and granted access, and sure enough, away we went!

I did a short flight from St. Petersburg-Clearwater, across Tampa Bay to Sarasota-Bradenton.  All good.

Heading, speed, and altitude are displayed at the top and all accurate (as to sim instrument readings).  The map updates about once per second and was accurate with positioning.  i.e. the second my feet were wet over Tampa Bay in the sim, it showed exactly the same in the app.

The screen stayed active on my pad for the duration, but slightly dimmed, which is just fine (and adjustable on my pad of course), and you can select north up or aircraft track up, and 'center' aircraft on map (track aircraft).

Satellite (land) map or google road map is easily selectable in a second, and of course scroll and pinch to zoom was smooth and fast.

There was no noticeable frame per second loss or stuttering, so I don't think it has a significant effect on the sim at all.  Battery life on the pad was just as normal.  It went down about one percent during the short flight, and that is normal drain for 10/15 minutes.

All in all, I like it.  It is simple and fast, but that is what I want.  One thing is for sure, I will never get lost again! 😁

Thanks to Ricardo for highlighting the app - a good purchase in my book!  👍

PS.  If I could change anything, I would ask for a different aircraft icon, and maybe to make the icon a bit smaller on the map.  For me, just a simple arrow or chevron would do.  Its only a small thing and no big deal, but I might contact the app designer to see if it is possible.
