Sim Update 2 (1.12.13.0) is now live!!!

It's like the entire sim was written by people who had never flown an aircraft, and they just ignored 14,000 comments from the Alpha/Beta testers.

Ignored?  Hardly... I'm seeing this sim get better and better with each update.

They still can't get a basic thing like the transition from flying to ground or ground to flying simulated in a plausible way.

And I doubt they will ever fix it, because it would reach too far down into the sim to mess with at this point.

Can you elaborate... seems fine to me

What evidence do you have for it being “far down into the sim”? Or that even if that is true, what is the evidence for the “doubt they will ever fix it”?

Do you use g-sync? I do. I’ve just read that the new nvidia drivers cause frame pacing issues with g-sync enabled. And it’s recommended to go back to the 457.30 driver. I am going to test this tomorrow morning.

Great find, I will do the same.

Ugh....problem.....My computer overheated half way through the download and shutdown.  I've fixed the overheat problem, but now when I try to start FS2020, it hangs on checking for updates.  Anyone had this and worked through the fix ?

My notes - fairly happy: -

1080Ti.  Stuttering when looking sideways is vastly reduced, if not completely gone.  The stuttering started happening to me at the previous update.  I have now gone back to 4k at 80% (from 70%) and Super Sampling at x8 (instead of x6).
These were my old settings that worked.  Mainly 30 fps everywhere now and not much stuttering as before, so this is a great 'backwards 'step for me.   Tested this on my sample flight from Sedona to Flagstaff.
Was it the new clouds that caused it?  We are back to the 'old' ones now and my performance has returned.

C152 mod seems to work alright - I use this a lot.

UI mods are still working (remove top handlebar and instruments in outside view), along with the prop mods (more transparency).

Static prop aircraft have been repaired, that is, the props were static and spinning at the same time.  This was now fixed on the ones I saw.

I haven't looked for the new ice / snow yet.

I set the new sensitivity settings (dead zone and reactivity) to 50% to try them (except for throttle of course) - a world of difference!  I know it is only a fudge, but the C152 was a lot more controllable and did actually feel like it had more momentum.  I can actually pull on the elevator now without the nose instantly jerking upwards, a much better feel!   Same in the turn and rudder on the ground.  So this is a big like from me!

Downsides - the landscape morphing is still bad, but they never said they would fix it on this update.  But lets hope it is soon!

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio!

By chance does this apply to the use of V-Sync as well or just G-Sync. Since the update I am noticing a much greater hit to my GPU running 100%  on the same settings as before where I had margin. This is clearly causing stutters now. I use V-Sync with my 30Hz 4K Monitor and have always had great success. I’m not setting anything in NCP except Preferred Max Performance. I’m going through setting by setting to find the new culprit and one is the volumetric clouds setting. I’m using the latest Nvidia drivers and have plenty of horsepower and all was good prior to the update.

Anyone else getting artefacts like this? They're not 'real' when to approach them, the elevation goes back to normal.

Anyone else get a rift to work? Any time I try to center the screen goes black and even when it is working non-centered there is a weird binocular black box visible? Doesn't seem to work with the first gen rift from what I can tell. I haven't tried my rift s yet because I don't want to swap headsets between my computers.

A lot of us are getting that post update. Not sure what is going on, but I hope we won't have to wait another month to address this issue.

I was getting that in some areas before the update. Haven't noticed it more often since, but my testing has been limited.

Yes, it works fine.  I have the first gen Rift myself.

1) You have to set the Beta tab in your Rift software to get the latest upgrade.  Once installed, that will solve the black screen issue on centering which I had myself.

2) There is also an issue with a black stencil showing up.  Go to the Oculus Debug tool: Default folder should be C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics Open the Oculus Debug Tool Turn the option “Use FOV Stencil” to Off

Fix those two items and you should be fine.
