I need Chaseplane for this Camera mess

Recommended Posts

I am sorry to say it but 90% of the time i loose interest in MSFS2020 due to conflicts or just straight wonderness about the camera controls.

For instance i havent found out a way to go from Cockpit to drone to external to drone to cockpit etc etc . I always end up in Drone or external view  with flaps all suddenly deploying and throttle goes a mess.

Has anyone cracked the code for buttons shortcuts on this ?

I miss Chaseplane 🙂

Thanks

For the last 20+ years. "s" worked like a charm, quite why they have decided to reinvent the wheel on this is lost on me.

I think it’s like anything different it takes getting used to.  I’m at a point now where when i do go back to P3D my muscle memory wants to use MSFS commands. It took me a while to get there but it just takes repetition.

I’ve been playing around with key / button bindings to make things work for me and am starting to set up custom cockpit views etc like I did in chaseplane and am binding those views to the same keys as I do in chaseplane so as of now I’m not really missing chaseplane.

Having flaps deploy or the throttles change when changing views sounds like a control conflict which you can figure out by doing a search in the control set up for the button that seems to be doing multiple things.

Like wise, At first I hated it but now, I have little wish for CP.

Agree with @regis9 & @Nyxx

This is a new animal, but tamable if you have the right whip & chair 🙂

Here is a quick screen I posted a bit ago that should help:  (A screenshot in it is worth a thousand words of explanation. 😉 )

Also, by default, The END key on the numeric keypad now switches you back n forth to the cockpit/external views.

By default, Insert on the normal keys brings you into Drone.  Use the ASDW like you do in shoot em ups to move...R and F to "translate" up and down when in Drone.  Your 4,8,6,2 keys on the numeric keypad ROTATE your view in DRONE.  Never needed an Xbox controller once I acclimated to these keys.

One HUGE help when in drone.....if you need to fly the plane when in DRONE mode...press C.  Fly.....the C again to return to DRONE CONTROL mode.

Completely comfortable with the new system, and easy to re-map when they change things in every update.

The camera system works just fine if you spend some time figuring things out.

No need for Chaseplane.

Everything is exactly the same for me. At first I was disappointed with the cameras, but then I took the time and set up all the camera controls as I used it with EZdok .

Arrow buttons-control the movement of the VC, PgUp/PgDn - the point of view above/below.

It is very easy to assign any camera via CTRL+ALT+ digit and return to your camera at any time by pressing ALT+ digit.

On the joystick buttons, switch to the camera spot and drone and back. Everything has become very familiar, just like in EZdok.

The only thing I'm missing is EZCA setting the turbulence levels.

That's the key: take your time.

The only limitation I've found, and maybe that's something that I haven't figured out yet, is that you can't save more than 10 cockpit views. Is there a way around this?

Yes, I think only 10 cameras can be saved. But I've never done more than 7-8 of my cameras. 🙂

I just use my xbox controller, works fine.

Its a hell here . I have a Xbox 360 controller which doesnt save my setup even on my own profiles.

Also when it goes to power saving after inactivity -  it shuts down engines and then deploy all flaps re powering it stalling the aircraft or AP goes off. its a mess

Just delete your profiles. You cannot delete the default profile so.....delete away.

Michael-

I hear your frustration, and agree there is a learning curve.  Once I mapped INSERT (Drone) and END (Outside) to my XBox controller ($10 on Amazon, not a fancy one) it all settled.  I used EXACTLY the same button presses as my EZDOK views, for EXACTLY the same views.  The added benefit were the 2 XBox joysticks to refine my views on the fly.

Very happy with this now (with the exception of tunable turbulence a la EZDOK).
