Flickering Textures / Lines

Recommended Posts

Hey folks,

i have some weird texture flickering with textures which are a little bit more far away from the plane.

I hope that videos shows it:

https://streamable.com/v7lsh2

Primarily in water areas that flickering textures appear.

Is that engine based and i cant do anything against it or is that a setting thing?

Thank you for any help!

Regards,

Thies

No problem!

I read in several forums that its an engine thing.

Any other opinions?

I don't see any flicker. The switching rotating view of the video doesn't help either to stay focused.

I know exactly what you mean. It's very simple, it's aliasing caused by high contrast edges. Other than using TAA (which you should and probably do), there's only one way do deal with these: brute force power. Meaning supersampling the image. At 1080p, these artefacts tend to vanish upwards of 170% resolution scale. So you almost have to render the image at 4K, then the sim downscales it, effectively working against the aliasing. Your GPU will hate you though.
