A Christmas tale about my RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra

Mine died yesterday after 3 months of regular use. Everything described below happened in one day.

Oh god, sorry to hear that. I'm expecting the worst from mine now.

EVGA really need to get to the bottom of this. They told me via email that they're fully aware of the issue and at present don't know what causing it.

EVGA suggested I carry on with the build and RMA if any issues. Fair enough, it doesn't seem to be damaging other components when it fails, but damned annoying when a huge amount of money has been spent on supposedly a top-notch product.

I hope EVGA isn't slapping a band-aid fix to broken cards and sending them out to people.

They are a docent company so no, I don't believe they are doing that. What they are doing though is simply sending out new cards to people while not knowing the cause of the issue... THUS, possible to have the same issue with the replacement.

I tell you what, if I get two in a row that fail I'll be saying "money back please".

I'm wondering, with the shortage of cards, if EVGA actually have enough in stock to send out to RMA. Hope no delays with RMA,

I haven't had issues yet but do have this card.  I'm feeling fortunate I bought the microcenter 3 year advanced warranty on the card.  I also didn't sell my old 1080ti just in case.  Always nice to have a decent back up

Really hope it works out for you.

I also had no issues until it gave out couple days ago.  There were no warning signs prior.

This already expensive GPU will demand even more financial input over its lifetime. Just paid $236 to ship it back to EVGA (Ontario to California).  UPS would not take it by ground with such high value and insurance.  Canada Post would be cheaper but insures only up to $1000.  I'm not in a position to chance it, so was forced to pay the high shipping.

This is just the first RMA procedure.  People had multiple replacements die on them also.

Someone on EVGA forum just replied to me saying that shipping insurance doesn't always cover used items.  Fine print and all that jazz...  if this is the case, there's just no words...

When you say you have this card, do you specifically mean the EVGA FTW3 3090 or 3080, or a diferant make.

The reason I say that is that the EVGA card already comes with a 3 year warranty which is extendable to 5 years for minimal cost.

I understood that shipping was paid for by EVGA. And that only when requesting a full refund was shipping not refunded.

Ftw 3090. To me cost was worth it to avoid lengthy rma process. The store is 5 min from me.

My 3090 FTW3 Ultra has the "Red Lips". The fans do spool up and down on rare occasions and only when using certain aircraft in X-Plane 11.5 and P3dv5.1 which I can't understand. If I remember the Toliss A321 will affect the fans, but not the A319. The PMDG 777 will affect the fans but not the 747-8. I have no issues with MSFS2020. All other aircraft in either Platforms doesn't seem to affect the card at all.

I got the extended warranty (5 years) from EVGA. I do have a 2080Ti and 1080Ti for backup in case of any downtown during RMA.

fly safe
