Someone would have to make flight plans for them. This is only for online.

What do you mean ? The X-CSL library ?

yes is better than nothing, still appears the ugly default ai liveries but the 80% of ia traffic have real ones

Why I can't write ICE in my previous post? It gets replaced by ###.

Well I was wrong. That makes more sense.

So what we need is a set of RW liveries which have been altered a little so as not to breach copyright together with some code which will link them to the the letters in the flight numbers.

That’s not what the problem here is, and that second part already happens in the sim.

thats easy, AIG has a working tool for v4/v5 that is currently ported over to MSFS. In total 50GB of AI Traffic^^

Yep, agree but unfortunately the assignment is still purely randomize. FSLTL promises a perfect assignment per airlines.

Soon we will have the FSLTL mod, its very advanced looking last video

Still talking about this subject, do you think Just Flight was allowed to use the RW liveries of the airlines on the Traffic Global Product?

I doubt any of the commercial products got the sign-off from the airlines. But things are changing. Brands no longer just look the other way.

I can remember as a kid all the hot wheels, model kits, etc. had cars named after the real things. Companies saw that they could extort money for something up to that point they were never interested in (making toys) and put the hammer down. Now if you have Ford, Dodge, Porsche, etc. on your toy, you pay licensing fees. Furthermore, they also control how their names are used, why you don't seen serious damage in many games, etc. when it involves a brand name (just like you no longer see an explosion in flight sim). Companies want a cut of any action and complete control of what and how their brands are used.

Where are the Mods? Please, protect the ai freeware makers. There are some members here who don't understand that freeware does not mean that there are no rules and restrictions.

Iirc don’t PMDG release liveries for their planes as separate free downloads? They’re not included with the base paid product.

This is why we don’t have it by default. Jörg stated numerous times they are calling every airline in the world to get their permission to implement their liveries on the sim.

While I don’t see an airline sueing some freeware creator, it’s more likely they would sue a company the size of Microsoft.

Still talking about this subject, do you think Just Flight was allowed to use the RW liveries of the airlines on the Traffic Global Product?

or Ultimate Traffic?

Even if Microsoft secured permission, there is no way they are going to contact all of the airlines needed to recreate a similar AI experience to what is provided by AIG. The task is impossible, and MS shouldn't even try to attempt it. Aside from airlines, AIG has so much installed in P3D. Is MS really going to call Sheldon Adelson to get permission for Las Vegas Sands flights? I have 1,062 separate traffic files in P3D representing airlines, bizjets and other private operators. That's 1,000 agreements.

I think the payware options for an all-in-one traffic solution isn't workable, because of the licensing issue. I don't think the airlines really care about freeware. The only time I can recall a company shutting something down is when people have tried to create a Gulfstream. The details around that issue are pretty fuzzy for me, but that is the only situation I can recall. That makes freeware the only viable option. AIG did so much work getting permissions for the conversions from FSX to P3D that to me, it seems like they can replicate the process a lot quicker than a new group. I'd much rather see this group work with AIG. If they worked together, we could get a really great solution is a shorter amount of time.

Either way, developers must respect the wishes of those who created the original models. That is our community standard, and it has been that way for years. It is that standard that has helped maintain the vibrant freeware community within the larger FS ecosystem.
