I'm sure a lot of us would, yes I would. Have run 1000's of computers back to the 1980's to 90's. There are reasons it could vary and in this stuff you can never think of every possible variable. Was responsible for many many servers, not full of myself, just experienced. I am also a programmer.

What installing the Gamepass version does is eliminate a potential installer or steam issue that could be repeating itself from a Windows version or update conflict. That is just one possibility. I am not saying it's LIKELY, but it's simple to try to further solidify the chances that is hardware and not some odd FS 2020 issue.

You are quick to challenge and insult, but you haven't the faintest clue what you are talking about.

Steam doesn't cause CTDs.  Telling someone to go sign up for another service (which they have to remember to cancel to avoid being charged for) and download another 100GB install of the game to troubleshoot a CTD is stupid.

It's like you just string words together to try to sound smart.

uh huh, you got a problem, I didn't have time to edit my posts to sound cordial and full of modesty, I was being "matter of fact". Can come off that way in writing, I know, but we don't know each other, don't assume. Your responses are childish and pestilent. If you have something "smarter" to add, then add it. That's my opinion.

I go all the way back to TI-99 and C-64 days, have run many blade servers, coded geo-location web service failover components, and have coded in multiple game engines and some ASM and know C++. What is your qualifications?

I don't need to list "qualifications" to know that the Gamepass version of of the sim will behave exactly the same once it's installed, and it's a dead end to go tell people they need to install a 2nd version of the sim for troubleshooting.

Not necessarily, because there are some weird install issues in this game with steam that can potentailly affect the game. IT's probably true, but it was one of the few last easy thing he could try, so what could it hurt. I've seen stranger things. This is like the 4th time you've jumped on me when I wasn't responding to you. My advice was sound.

Aren't you the same person that was jumping all over me about Aerosoft's great CRJ and no way would it be delayed, and then 15 minutes later you found out it was delayed. You weren't being cordial then either, now were you?

You got some issue, I was trying to help someone and I gotta listen to your attitude. Your posts are acid and unnecessary.

Much better suggestions would be some standard stability testing, which no one has even mentioned yet:

-Run Prime95 overnight

-Run Memtest86+ overnight

-Run Furmark overnight

It was all mentioned prior (including running a mem test), but he needs to check his temps before he does that.  I've had 20% success with memtest reporting a bad memory chip, and why is that?

Well it's partly because some bad memory will only throw or show up as bad when other components are also contributing enough heat, like the VC. So then the memory shows as good, but resistance at higher temps, so a memtest gives people false sense of conclusion.

I'm SO sick of this too.

What the hell are we meant to do?

I mean, there's a world out there that we're meant to be interacting with. With masks and social distancing and hand gel. . .

Yet, Here am I, a trapped Pilot in the virtual World of MSFS - flying Boeing 747s and an Airbus A320 NEOs like there's no tomorrow.

And my biggest dilemma is trying to decide and decipher which is the greater airframe between the two.

Life is a gift, a brief candle that burns brightly.

A spark flitting across a field of burning stubble at dusk.

Just Go Fly - and make the rules up as you go along!

There is a thread where several peoples issues were fixed by (drum roll) getting the MSFS version instead of using Steam. The reverse has also happened. Sometimes it helps just to vary the process slightly, for whatever reason.

There were also previous Windows versioning / Windows update issue with the game (do not recall which or what versions ATM). So the "stupidity" that I mentioned has already happened in both past and present, and I'm sure will occur at least once more sometime in the future.

I think that is the problem - some people can't fly. We all have different expectations for the sim, but I think we can all agree that being able to run it is pretty close to the top of the requirements list. While this could be a hardware issue, a MSFS issue, or maybe another software issue, it is still frustrating to not be able to use the sim, regardless of the cause.

Standard RAF Training on Height. (Cow thing; bigger/ smaller)

I love this Sim. When we think back to what we had - only 12 months go - we're now in Nirvana. Are we not?

Anyone not getting a huge brain surge every time they get their heads down in to Flight Planning, Firewalling the throttle, taking the A320NX off the tarmac positively, is missing out on some serious Life Experiences.

But there you go.

Fair winds.

Yes, this is a good point. He needs to make sure absolutely nothing is OC'd, not even the memory.
He should also underclock the memory and video card as a last resort, to see if that helps.

If the problem is indeed hardware related ( I thought at first you mean an hardware defect, so my mistake), I think the 9900K could be a good canditate. Best would be undoubtedly to disable RAM - CPU overclock, even underclock the hardware, and checking the clocks, temperature during gameplay.

It`s really great when there are people who are willing to help others.

Btw. some personal comments are complete unnecessary. Funny, those who are making personal insults aren `t helping at all...

So I can `t resist:

My CPU is only OC to 4.7GHz and temps are always under 60c and is ~30% utilized

My GPU is NOT OC and runs at about 80% to 100% and stay at about ~79c.

It's pretty crazy that I have to spend HOURS troubleshooting just to be able to run a game when ALL other games run with NO issues.

Ah but, this is a game that's testing on even the best systems, you only have to look at some of the issues folk are having even with the latest all swinging and dancing graphics cards... I have had a number of issues, thought i had it cracked since the last update as the ctd's suddenly vanished after the update, only to resume a few days ago. I am begining to wonder is some of the payware now responsible, as i have already discovered one payware Airport that was causing issues with ground textures on default Asobo airfields. i contacted the dev, and he had to re-write the program to fix the issue. So maybe something we should be aware of is introducing issues through addons.

I ened up due to other problems recently re -installing MSFS from scratch yet again, and luckily for me it's been running great since. But, i am only reinstalling the payware i have purchased individually to make sure nothing is being installed that may cause ctd's. It's long and labourious installing a airport, i then fly from it, and return, any issues it's removed (so far non)

OC anything gave me ctd's

Try and see it as a test.

If you are True - it'll all work out fine.
