The need of clearing the community folder is a myth.

It is totally pointless because the updater does not care about the content of this folder.

The only thing that can happen is that the additions in the community content are no longer compatible with the additional or changed core content after the patch.

The mods in the community folder substitute their code for the official code. It does this while loading. Whether this is before it gets to the update screen or after I do not know, I just know it's before the Home screen. If it does this before the update screen then it could indeed cause problems.

Fantastic shot. Being Gay - and gender neutral - where can I find this guy?

And enough already - of people saying he's by the back door!

I wish he was.

A lot of the confusion is because minor updates like the AIRIC ones are technically updates to the current patch version and the updater displays the description of the current patch getting which is getting a minor update making people mistakenly think it is downloading the last patch all over again.

Update seems to have removed all my joystick settings.  Had to re program all the axises, buttons and reset sensitivities.  Took a month to get the sensitivities to an acceptable level and I can't get them right at all now.

The same here ! ...

Do you know where the settings directory is stored ?

I would like to save it after each major updates.

Thanks.

Back in my day we had to strap on our desktops and carry them 2 miles everyday to the broadband store to download files.

Uphill both ways, no doubt.

I have seen questions like this before and the assumed answer is that they are saved at the server end.  Assumed for the log book as well.

The controller profiles are saved (for steam users) on your computer at:

C:\Steam\userdata\94959374\1250410\remote

You can read them all in notepad, they are just textfiles.

I believe even your old no longer used profiles remain there.

One time I deliberately deleted some of them but then when booting up MSFS they all came back to that folder.

Obviously the first part of path may be different depending whre you installed steam

When they came back after I deleted some of them, it must have been from the MS server and not from another place on my computer. Because doing a search of C:/ drive for  inputprofile_0102968584 (the name of one of the controller profile files) found only one file so named on my computer.

Anyways, that's what to back up, all the inputfile_xxxxxxxxxx files (they are all simple txt files that open with notepad, you can read all the bindings and the name of the profile in MSFS, etc.

Thanks all for your replies.

Unfortunately, no directory for controllers found (sim got with Microsoft Store).

In waiting, i decide to duplicate each profile (xxx-saved). Who knows, it can help ...

I can't see how contents in the community folder could effect an update, messing with the official though - that's a different story.

If you modify anything in there then this might be deemed as corruption and prompt a full or part download of base files.
