PMDG 777 Update... coming soon

Also consider the 777 on sale coz it's gona increase on release day.

Hmmm...I just checked an old invoice from 2015.  I paid $89.99 then.

Pretty sure they increased the price after V4 dropped and the 64-bit conversion. It's been $134.99, which is frankly overpriced considering it's only $5 less than the 747 and hasn't been updated in years. At least that's changing.

And it's still $89.99 for the FSX version.
I'm never one to defend PMDG's pricing model, however, they've long stated that Prepar3D required extra licencing costs, which —not unexpectedly— were passed onto us consumers. That's PMDG's rationale for the price differences between their FSX and P3D product ranges.


I had hoped the PBR cockpit would appear at the same time, as the significant 9-year(?) difference in texturing between the exterior and interior will be all too obvious.
That said, any update is a positive. This update will appear before any other long-haul airliner will in P3D.
Roll-on the weekend!

It's a tad confusing on the price "Randazzo confirmed that the price of the 777-200LR/F Base Package will indeed increase and match that of PMDG’s 747 product line".

right now the 747 base is 139.99 that would just be a $5 increase.

PC specs: i5-12400F, RTX 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM.

Simulators I'm using: X-Plane 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) and FlightGear.

Disclosing even a $5 increase ahead of time is good customer relations and this transparency should be applauded.
I think that the real signal from the announcement of a price increase of the base package is that the -200ER add-on may well be priced similar to the 747 expansion at around $70, as opposed to the more usual $25-$30 range.

Shifting away from the price discussion a little, I saw mentioned somewhere the T7 update will incorporate some VNAV updates. Is that true and if so what improvements in functionality are to be expected?

I have not seen RSR elaborating more than this:

Yes, thanks Tony. That last quote is what I am referring to. I am asking because I am about to complete my round-the-world tour in my A320 and plan to be switching seats over to the T7 fairly soon hence this update comes at an opportune time for me.

Is the real world 777 VNAV the same as the 787 does anyone know?

If it is , it’s not very good , at least compared to the 747-400 VNAV, which is surprising given the time between development.

The VNAV on the 787 seems like it’s the 747 system but it’s been rewritten by a spotty teenage apprentice in his bedroom thinking he’s improving it by trying to make it more clever.

Which from a programming point of view they may have been, but from a pilots point of view they’ve ruined it.

Maybe it’s the 777 software that just doesn’t suit the 787’s slippery carbon fibre wing and the way it flies,
