PSA: Update 1.12.13.0 SimConnect causing random CTDs

Recommended Posts

Apparently update 1.12.13.0 (Dec 22) introduced bugs into the SimConnect API that cause random CTDs in flight.  So any of the EFB, 'mission', control-mapping, etc applications that we all love to use may cause a CTD.  This is been confirmed by MS/Asobo, per the links below.  I've suspected this was the case based on an overall trend in topics about CTDs on both this and the official forum since the update came out, but this is the first official confirmation, and I thought everyone should know.

Post from the author of LittleNavMap here:

All: The CTD was introduced with the latest MSFS update and they confirmed a problem with SimConnect that affects all applications.

Do not connect LNM if you want avoid crashes for now. Wait for the next MSFS update.

Alex

Comment from a Forum Moderator on a closed thread on this indicating that the devs are aware of this (personally I do not think this thread should have been closed.  It should be retitled 'use of simconnect API causes CTD', since the problem is indeed with MSFS)

The developers are aware of simconnect issues.

Good to know they've identified something that could be a common item between CTD's.

It's a random thing.  It doesn't happen every time.

Since the last December update, I've had CTD all along. No settings in Sim, Nvidia and the removal of the mods were successful. I had created a batch file with FSUIPC7 and XP Force.I have now left out FSUIPC7 and only start the XP Force tool for meim MSFFB2. I haven't had a CTD yet.
I had also read here that there are currently problems with SimConnect. Is it now due to certain programs or the number of programs that are started with the SIM, I can't say, but I don't have a CTD anymore.
Maybe this will help someone of you.
