P3D v4.5 Startup Issue

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Having a problem launching P3D v4.5 I have recently purchased a new monitor and since Ive used it P3D doesnt load. The P3D splash screen comes on only to lead to a blank screen. I noticed also in task manager that P3D is running under a "background application"?

I have updated graphics drivers and I have attempted a fresh P3D.cfg but nothing seems to want to make the sim load?

After the splash screen vanishes the sim doesnt appear in the task bar, and it just appears to be running in the background process in task manager and thats it. But the sim vanishes from any kind of view?

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

Alex

Clear the shader cache and then try running it again.

Still nothing I'm afraid even after deleting the shaders. I noticed P3D doesnt even show up in the windows taskbar at all (normally it appears straight away).

I've seen the app hang or close on splash screen several times.  It has always been caused by a problem with an addon.  A simple textual error in an add-on.xml file will certainly do this, but also errors in the path or addons not compatible with the P3D version you have.

The second clue that it is an addon is that you've recently added something and you never see the creating scenery database progress bar.

Ive not installed / modified anything new since the sim ran properly last. Its litereally been since I used a new monitor but hardware shouldn't affect the sim. Any other ideas?

My guess is that Windows and/or P3D thinks your new monitor is a secondary display (#2) and the old monitor is primary (#1). P3D is loading, you just can't see it cuz that other monitor is no longer there.

There's a way to bring programs back onto the primary display but I can't remember the steps. Someone will stop by with the necessary info or you could search and see what comes up.

Good luck.
