New or Updated Default Aircraft

Recommended Posts

Will X-Plane 11 get any new or updated default aircraft or have to wait till X-Plane 12?

If there is going to be a version 11.60 release, there may be some minor updates to default aircraft. But for major changes, waiting for XP12 is in order.

In the current XP 11 the default king air 90 is very good. I flew one in the real world for several years. When I first downloaded the demo of XP 11 a couple years ago the first aircraft I selected was the king air and I was so surprised at it. The PT6-21 engines on a warm/hot day will never be accused of being overpowered and they nailed this well. Autopilot, efis controls etc, well done. No sim aircraft will be 100% but this one is pretty much on par with payware, imho. The only thing I would like to see is a 2D moveable auto-pilot controls. The included Garmin 530 is well done too.

The one I flew had a panel pretty much identical to this one other than the gps...initially we had the KLN90b then upgraded to the Garmin 400. After I'd been on it a few years the panel was removed and a Garmin 1000 with all the option boxes ticked including XM radio. Such a nice airplane to fly. I had moved into the office at the end of my career (90% office monkey, 10% flying) but maintaining currency on something was required. Really enjoyed the KA90b. Were money not an object (these days when is it not?) it would be a nice private aircraft with the bigger engines. When I want a short XP 11 flight I often take this.

There are actually a few mods to it that makes it even better. You can download one of them here:

Thanks for passing this along. I'll have a good look at it. I have never used FS Economy or Pilot Edge. I'll have to look into them too.

All the best.

BIG Thank You to Janov for the link above.

Curiously Alexis had directed me to some interesting videos by the author regarding a very detailed approach he followed sometime ago to bring an XP C172 as close as possible to rw numbers. It happens he is the same person behind this C90 mod I am now eager to try.

Meanwhile, still trying to make my mind about spending a "little fortune" and buying the Toliss A321 + NEO upgrade ... I really love Airbuses these days 🙂

Yesterday reinstalled ASXP with the latest version, and gave it a go for some hours. Did install the included cloud textures ( non- volumetric, but still very good ! ).

Couldn't care less about trees in XP being made up of two panes, what really attracts me right now is how smooth the Toliss A319 and a few more addons I own for XP11 run in Vulkan, default scenery only 🙂

Compared to the slide show, and funky feel I get on another platform... it is the way to go right now ( which means less than nothing for an uninstaller of course 🙂 )

I got into XP (11) in May 2019 when I was fed up with problems with P3d. As I mentioned above what really got my attention was just how good the stock, included, King Air C90b with the -21 engines was/is. I flew one for quite a few years.

On to Toliss. My first XP add on was the Toliss A319 and I found it well done (I've got no airbus time - just a little in the jump seat watching others have the fun). When the Toliss A321 came along I bought it and like it even more - then the NEO...again it clicked with me. For me it's been  money well spent. I don't think you'll go wrong getting it. Not inexpensive till you factor in how many hours of enjoyment you'll get.

I found the investment barrier for the TolIss aircraft rather high (even when on sale, compared to the pricing that was usual for FSX add-ons), but considering how well they're made, it was worth it in the end.

Had my longest flights in years in the A321, 5.5 hours per leg and it performed brilliantly start to finish.
