Being forced to read through a list of immersion killers in a forum where (as a P3D user) I have no right to be in the first place.

Who "Forcing" you to read anything?

What's wrong with it?  When I was showing the top execs at MS the sim, they noted how realistically I landed the plane since they experienced the same kind of landing just earlier in the day when their G5 pilot brought it in "firmly".  They all agreed that is how planes must land, and told the devs to incorporate in the game.

I feel kinda' insulted that you don't like the way I land. 😉

As far as the top immersion killer....I have to agree that CTD on short final takes the cake hands down....esp when you're doing an FSEconomy flight and you've just left all those virtual pax at 697 feet, wondering when they are gonna touch down and disembark anytime soon.  Right now, I've personally left 5 pax in this state over KSAN, 54CL, KBUR, KCXO, KJAC, KTEX, KTPA and most recently KRAP.....which is how I feel when I'm pulling the power back, touching the rudder once more to tweak the heading just so as to perfectly align the nose to the runway heading, waiting for the view aspect of the the landing picture to change from moving down to the horizon expanding in front of you...just as you're preparing to flare...and ..................

BOOM

You're now looking at your desktop.  Quite the immersion killer me thinks. 😒

As far as I remember AI in FSX land better. I wish I had video to show to MSFS AI landing. They just drop dead like were shot! It almost look like there was a missing animation frames of rounding up and someone just fast forward.

For me an "immersion killer" is something that when you look at it, you say "OK, this cannot be real". So for me is:

- Stutters
- Crazy airport vehicles
- Deciduous trees still green in January, in the middle of snow
- Pixelated / too shimmering reflections. I find this very disturbing.
- Clouds sometimes too transparent
- Mesh issues: spikes, rivers inside canyons (or extruded from ground level), too rounded mountains
- Airports look like all the same, with poor variety of buildings (or totally wrong buildings)
- Landing cat3 without real fog. It is just incredible that a flight sim cannot reproduce consistent fog via simple "visibility" setting, that should be the first thing to do when developing a weather system for such kind of game.

Anyway, I love this sim... I am confident that most things will be fixed.

If Asobo were to indulge everyone's "immersion killer" or "bugs" they'd never find the time to release patches and world upgrades.

  • Creating new issues with each update
  • Refusal to partner with 3rd parties on weather and avionics
  • Freeze ups of G1000
  • Horribly embarrassing  ATIS
  • Inconsistent live weather
  • The "Generic this, Generic that" ATC
  • Home airport with flat blobs of color on the ground instead of hangars/buildings (KESN)
  • Failure to accurately log flights, especially when starting cold and dark
  • Overkill on icing effects

No proper visibility simulation in the sim. Been having poor visibility in West Africa due to Dust haze for the last couple of days, but it always CAVOK in the sim.

Meanwhile AS/MS swears by Aerosol Density, it's there to fix all our visibility issues. 🙄

Peeps rarely comment on the fact that every controller no matter where you are has an American accent. American ATCs sure get around!

For a more serious answer ...

The stupidly high waves on every tiny bit of water that were increased to unrealistic levels versus windspeed to keep all the screenshot people happy who wanted crazy big waves even at 5 knots 😄

Road car traffic is bad and the cars are driving under bridges and just disapering. They need to fix this and make the cars more visible at night with head and tail lights.

Oh, Christopher! You should know by now that humour isn't allowed on the forums... 😄

Immersion killers:

  • CTDs
  • Overly sensitive aircraft
  • Terrain spikes
  • Aeroplanes that look like they have been put in the deep freeze whenever icing is present.

Fix these and I'll start using MSFS again.
Everything else falls under 'nice-to-have' for me and I can be patient for Asobo to address them.

Default airport runways that have bumps instead of being flat. Look at the rw lights into the distance.

Eg : Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM) runway 24

Coast line / water issues in PNW islands. Take Off KORS RW 34 and turn to to the left. Too bad ... for flying in this beautiful area.
