I'm not. They're out to get me.

They're talking about a bunch of other airports getting a tweak so hopefully many a niggle elsewhere will be dealt with. I'll be unimpressed if that gets me too.

Those pictures of photogrammetry London look pretty bad. The tower blocks look awful - all wobbly sides and smeared textures. Not impressed with the look at all.

I don't mind another few days of delay for the UK Update, if it's required. But I find  it really disturbing that they tied "Spikes Removal" to this update. This is a serious bug which was introduced more than a month ago, and the fact that most forum users use the community workaround relying on an old dataset does not free them from correcting it as soon as possible.

What's really disappointing is that they suggested the issue would be solved with a hotfix, yet they insist on pushing it out with the UK Update even though it has been delayed twice. Not everyone knows about the community fix or reads the forums, so the least they could do is post about it on a development update and on the socials, or even make it "official" by posting the old files themselves and acknowledging it as a known issue.

It is concerning that this new one-month cadence seems to have made matters worse. We are still getting major bugs that should have been caught by the QA team, and now we just have to wait longer for relevant fixes. It's making me lose my confidence in the progress and overall stability of the simulator. After two months of flashing clouds and two months of terrain issues, I cannot remember the last time I could just fly freely and enjoy the view.

I was referring to Out Skerries as the weird choice. Here is it in all its glory. I added a picnic table to it as I couldn't think of a single thing else.

😂 I see. That‘s a weird choice indeed. I didn‘t realize you were the one who did the Shetland overhaul and Barra. Great work!

The same goes for the water flowing upwards on coastlines, where I am not even clear they intend to cure this.

I share your disappointment. I‘m not so worried about the spikes (although I agree that such obvious and omnipresent things should be fixed more quickly), but not hearing anything about the coast problem is a bit unsettling.

I enjoy those Q&As and the devs are certainly a likable lot; I also understand that they don‘t want to only talk about negative things - the Q&As are part of their marketing after all - but what I don’t understand is their silence about issues like the coast problem or tears in the scenery, things that were introduced after release and have been there for weeks and months now. Why not say it will be addressed but it will take a while because it‘s a complex matter? Also announcing something and then not delivering it on time without comment (spikes, water masks) isn‘t communication at its best.

I love this sim and I‘m sure these things will get ironed out eventually. I just wish they‘d address some of the more severe issues more directly, and more quickly. It‘s easier to overlook flaws and enjoy the great bits when you can trust that the flaws are being taken care of.

I keep seeing 787-8,787-10,I know the only difference is seating and length.Do we have two different variants in the sim?because I only see one the -10

So UK has been delayed again it seems. During the live Q&A yesterday they were saying next week, and were counting the release in days, not weeks.

You realize today is 1/30? So it’s just 10 to 12 days out. Not even two weeks.

Would much rather have it right than rushed. When it’s rushed the complaints are posted that they rushed it. So they are taking a couple of extra weeks to get it right. 👍

I don’t think it’s serious at all personally.

None of the spikes are hazardous, as they vanish at a far distance. It looks a little odd yeah, but it isn’t sim breaking. I can live with it for a couple extra weeks.

Also did you take a poll when you say most forum users use the fix? Because I don’t use it.

I know. I’m just saying on the Wednesday Q&A they still seemed confident it would be out next week, not the week after.

So something must have happened between Wednesday and Thursday.

... That's every single location I've done, though there's nothing at Out Skerries to bother with other than taking out its broken terrain. That's a weird choice.

Expectations are riding ridiculously high on the official forums for some people. I think they're going to be sad when it hits.

I said it from the beginning, the hand-crafted airports are all about quantity over quality, as good as some of them are. Asobo/MS want to be able to say they have given us 5, 10, 20, 100 'airports' because it looks impressive and drives sales. But the truth is that an airstrip in the middle of nowhere will require far less time and effort than a major international hub airport on the edge of a city. So the likes of Barra and Skerries are just filler to bump up the airport count. I can't blame them for doing it that way - providing us with free professional grade major airports would impinge on payware devs output and would probably not do enough to drive sales of the sim when compared to the  work required, but you're right, expectations will probably always exceed the end result. I'd rather have a 'perfect' Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick or Aberdeen Dyce than Barra or Skerries, but that's not going to happen in World Updates.

It's a pity your efforts are being affected . Sure, we'd all love the default airports and scenery to be so perfect that there'd be no need for freeware and payware products, but with so many thousands of locations in the world, there must be countless ones which will probably never get even basic freeware improvements, so it's a pity they choose ones which already have well-made mods.

The odd thing about this one is that the majority of their efforts are on piddly places this time. The Japanese and US ones, and indeed the launch ones, were mainly big international places.

I guess if they did all the big UK ones that would impinge on payware but so did the US I presume.

Barra is iconic, and was also absent, so it's a good choice. I can only assume Out Skerries is set in 2500 AD with anti gravity landing pads and a space elevator.

Absolutely agree with you here. Obviously we'd prefer not to have these anomalies, but as you say, it's not the end of the world and personally I prefer not to have TPD fixes in there which might then break subsequently break something after an official fix comes along. One of the things I like about MSFS as a concept, is that it's aiming to be the sim where you don't have to add things to it left right and centre to sort it out. It's not there yet of course, but I prefer to have them fix stuff officially and I'm okay with waiting for this to happen on issues which are merely undesirable rather than showstopping.

I mean, they did Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, so I'm not sure how true this is. Maybe they felt they didn't need to do any of the major airports in the UK for some reason.

Also remember, not all of the airports (and I think some landmarks) are made by Asobo, some are outsourced. Probably the ones that actually have mostly accurate custom textures and extra scenery, I.E. Atlanta with the airline markings on the terminals and the modelled Delta HQ and museum aircraft.

Sorry, I meant exclusively major airports. I doubt they'd create as much interest only releasing airstrip improvements.

That could certainly be true as they will surely be aware of the number of people who already craft payware and freeware for the UK. I'm certainly holding out for Orbx to bring their EGPH to the sim.

Again, true, and obviously those devs will be getting paid to do so, and so they are not getting their toes trodden on. I just think Asobo/MS are treading a fine line between truly improving the look of airports and keeping devs happy, at the same time as giving us a mix of big and small runway options.
