I fully believe that Microsoft and Asobo are truly interested in making the sim a solid, long lasting platform. They are already very open and involved with folks in the modding community and have expressed a desire to be even moreso. It makes sense to me that they'd let folks who asked nicely resell some of their assets for use in the sim it if brought more players in the door. It's not like they're using the 787 sounds to make a plane for P3D. If anything, this gives me even better feels about the future of the sim. Seems legal to me. I don't think they are reselling assets. The assets are part of the Siimulator and a cfg file or something is linking these assets into the cockpit. In fact those who make scenery's etc do the same, the assets the sceney uses are for a large part already in the sim.

That is what they do with the avionics, yes, which is perfectly normal and what other developers like Carenado have done. Various sounds and textures, however, are copied and pasted from a handful of other stock planes and distributed with the 737. I verified this both visually and with file checksums upthread. But as I indicated then, it seems to be legit.

They copied a part of the Simulator and sold it in their package to be used in the same Simulator, so no harm done according MS or Asobo, it was already there and is now double present. Would be a different issue if they sold it for X-plane or P3D. All in all they have my respect, it's really smart thinking what they did. I guess he made an agreement with the creators of the model parts (cockpit and external) or made them part of the team. Because on the 3d model site there is a clause that mentions said models may be used for 'Editorial use only'. Hats off to them. Edited February 10, 20215 yr by Gerwil

February 10, 20215 yr Can some one please confirm that you cannot have both the FBWA320 and the 737 in the community folder at the same time because each conflicts with the other?
February 10, 20215 yr Been having a lot of fun with this thing, making flights around Africa to give it a good work out before doing a vid review of it. Those engine fan blades are incorrect by the way. They're pretty close, but not exactly correct for that engine type, still, you can't really tell that when they are running... Further to the discussion about taking bits of other sim aeroplanes and the Premium Deluxe aeroplanes, people need to be aware that these aeroplanes in the fancier editions of the sim are distributed in all versions of the sim, but are just not unlocked on all versions. You can tell this is the case if you have the Standard Version of the sim, because you will find that you can still import the Premium Deluxe Boeing 787 into your fleet in Air Hauler as an AI aeroplane to be operated by your AI pilots, and it will appear in the sim. So even if you don't own a flyable version of it for yourself, you can still see it in the sim, you just won't be able to fly it personally unless you buy the marketplace expansion, however, it'll definitely be there so your AI pilots can use it and so that you can see it in multiplayer sessions. So, using assets from that aeroplane in this 737 does not mean the 787's assets are being distributed to people who don't have those assets in the lower spec versions of the sim. And since the only people who would buy this 737, are presumably people with the sim, this means they already have the stuff it is using, just not necessarily unlocked in one of the Premium Deluxe aeroplanes which are flyable in their copy of the sim unless they choose to upgrade their base sim. This is why I should imagine Asobo and MS are not likely to be bothered about these assets being used in the same way that they won't be bothered if any other payware aeroplanes use gauges from any of the other aeroplanes. Interesting, that most 3D models of rather not so experienced developers all suffer from the same phenomena: they look like being on stilts. This 737 max 8 rendition is way to high above ground, as such the proportions simply look off. Same effect is seen for several "cheap" models like the virtual col planes (especially the A220) and so on. So I wonder: is it really that difficult to make those landing gear struts having the correct relation to the fuselage as such as the plane does not look ridiculous?
