Wow, to put it mildly, what you miss when away from this forum for a short while. My eyes and brain are exhausted after this 32 page read. This thread may take the Pulitzer Prize this year! AVSIM at it’s best. Cheers and blue skies!

It’s may sound odd... but look in the library for Randazzo’s early freeware... you have to start somewhere!

I remember using his  Boeing 747 in FS 5.1 / FS98...  it wasn’t Avsim, it was Flightsim, but I remember that early work

Wow thanks for that trip down memory lane!  I saw another name there that I haven’t seen in ages, Frank DiCandia.  I actually used to “work” as a VP at his virtual airline many many years ago, CP Air VA.  Great guy and very talented.

Sorry for the off topic wander down memory lane!

I had the same feeling! We’ve come a long way haven’t we?

Definitely, and sometimes it’s easy to forget how far.

All of them in 1 link!

Show pics 1,2, 3, 5 and 6 to a random person, and he/she won't be able to tell you that this is out of the sim. This just demonstrates how far we've come with flight simulation.

DISCLAIMER: I didn't receive a review copy, I purchased this baby with my allowance from doing chores

After spending a few days with it I am actually very happy with my purchase. There are some minor complaints anyone with eyes could make regarding polish and finishing touches when it comes to sound design, model and texture quality - but what matters most is how the plane flies and I have no real complaints there.

Hand flying is easy and I actually prefer this to the 787 which was my previous airliner of choice (I appreciate the A32NX at times but I'm a Boeing Bro). I haven't had any issues with any of the autopilot functionality across the dozen or more flights I've done this week and I've really tried "breaking" it - this isn't to dispute anyone who has had those issues, I just haven't.

FINAL WORDS: I always review addons from the perspective of a casual sim fan and in this case I think I truly am the target audience. Obviously some of the more hardcore simmers will want to wait for an 100% accurate recreation of the 737-Max and hopefully those guys get what they want in the future, but for me  the price and functionality of this offering are aligned with my expectations and I would easily recommend it to someone who wants a new airliner to fly.

.............this will make sense to someone

Clever -- that does tend to put things in perspective a bit. And all we need now is Burger King and Wendy's paints for that Big Mac and we are good to go!

Yay! A nice Southwest paint is up at flightsim.to

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

There is still some on here that will say 98 graphics 😏. Totally agree with you I think it looks great for the price of a Big Mac and a happy meal.

After all the shenanigans here on Avsim, I decided to forego the Macburger and bought the B737.

PMDG it certainly isn't - but it's really quite enjoyable - and it works better than the default B787, IMHO. You certainly get what you pay for, but I'm hoping that with all the Avsim generated sales the developer can finance a fair bit of further work or updates.

I am fully with you ! It is enjoyable, makes fun and is flyable like the Asobo 747-8 or the Asobo 787-10 - for that money it makes sense to me 😎

And a lot of liverys coming in:  BREDOK3D 737-M Aircraft Liveries for Flight Simulator 2020

cheers 😉

I flew from KIAH (Houston) to KDFW (dallas) and I found these two issues

1) Holding line on enroute path. It tries to maintain the magenta line but it keeps doing S turns to track it not quite on the line. until its on approach, then it seems to hold the line as it gets closer to the airport

2) the speed tape om the PFD to the left shows 30-40 range when I know  the GS is higher than 250 kts... but like someone above mentioned it loses the A/T and becomes a Throttle runaway..so need to toggle the A/T get that back.

So far, these two issues. I have turned off the  747 mod and the A320 mod. thought that may have been the issue earlier.

Any of you experience these two issues?

and how do I communicate this back to the developer?

Sorry  missed this 🙂    Did some research as I have seen both of these too.

1) is actually an A/P issue with LNAV on the 787

2) is actually an A/P issue with Autothrottle on the 787

Both issues are issues with the existing Boeing Autopilot in the 787.  Both have been noted and zendesked previously starting in September last year.  Both are awaiting fixes.

For the speed tape.. when you disconnect the autospeed..  move the throttles around until the ones in the cockpit start moving.. just disconnecting autothrottle doesn't immediately make your throttles do anything than go full ahead.

In either case, disconnect AP, hand fly, wait for speed tape to come back or for LNAV button to go out (sometimes)  and then re-engage autopliot and continue.  Can sometimes be brought back by flipping the autothrottle switch a few times.

If it's yawing but the throttle is working..  disconnect A/P  completely,  set heading hold and re-engage..  that will sometimes fix it 🙂

Neither of these are 737 issues, but a wider Boeing 787 A/P issue that has been inherrited 🙂

Some people have said they exerience this less if the glass cockpit setting is high rather than medium refrresh but there is no proof of this.

If you see either issue, raise to Zendesk as a 787 a/p issue, not a 737 issue.

Oh  finally...  go into settings  and flick settings to legacy flight mode, save it,  then back to modern and save again...  Sometimes, installing 3rd party aircraft pushes you to legacy mode even if the UI says modern...   legacy mode will deffinately cause the issue you list as 1)  the LNAV issue.

The Quest Kodiak (mentioned in this thread) borrowed the sound files from the FSX C208. Was Bill at Lionheart crucified like this guy?

This doesn't give them a pass IMHO. If there's an issue, recode it like the WT or FBW guys did.
