>1) Smartclose-a very elegant program/process closer.>http://www.snapfiles.com/get/smartclose.html>2) Wincleaner memory optimizer:>http://www.snapfiles.com/get/wcmemopt.html>Hey, man, I used the optimizer while in flight - over Alaska with cloud cover- getting 15fps. I ran the optimizer while running FSX (still in the same flight, did not close down FSX first) and my FPS jumped to 27 and pushing 30! Same conditions, same flight, same location. To get that I used 3-passes on the Maximizer. I was using a different memory tool to release RAM automatically, but it didn't do near as well as this one! Thanks for the tip! :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy :-jumpy :-beerchug :-beerchug Samhttp://webpages.charter.net/sajamo/sorry.jpg

I forgot to mention that I did get a boost from using Cacheman 1.12.I went from an average 20 or so to 22. A definite gain for me. You guys may want to give it a try. Bob

as always I respect your opinions and suggestions Geofa, however I believe that FSAutostart will accoplish both of these things plus many more startup options to boot...

Also, FsAutostart won't defrag your memory if you have more then a gig.

Used both, the first gave an increase of about 3 FPS, the second one nothing extra since i already run something familiar (Cacheman). After using Smartclose, i was not able to get my Anti-virus (AVAST!) running again, not with the build-in restore facilty, not manualy. Only with a reboot this was possible.I have another program running in the background which is called IE-Maximiser (to maximise every "new" internet explorer screen). This wasn't recovered either by Smartclose when using the restore function. If i configured Smartclose to leave these programs running, the gain was around 1 to 2 FPS. I must admit that my system ran already very clean with almost all services that are not needed already closed. That's why the the gain is not spectacular. But it will be for those people who have all their non-needed services still running.

The Wincleaner memory optimizer was what worked for me. I have a 3Ghz dual core, PCI express, 2G RAM, Dual Dell 20" wide-screen monitors. I get no gains from any program close utilities, but using Wincleaner my FPS doubled. I now have FPS set to a limit of 30, where it stays most of the time (it pushes 40 if left unlimited). Almost all graphics sliders maxed out and AI at 30% for planes and cars and about 15% for boats. I get this even with a browser open on the second monitor!I have to believe that more of you should be able see this kind of increase. :-kewl Note to get this I had to use THREE passes on the "Maximizer". Also, don't close the program or the gains will be gradually lost! For me, this utility makes FSX my sim of choice.Samhttp://webpages.charter.net/sajamo/sorry.jpg
