Undervolting your Ampere GPU

Recommended Posts

Anyone on here done it? What's your experience like? On Youtube I've read you can reduce power draw by up to 100W with no noticeable Performance hit, but as we all know MSFS isn't standard fare when it comes to behavior so any data points would be welcome. Also asking because my new PSU is borderline for my rig (600W for Ryzen 5600x & 3070)

Thanks

Best of luck with that 😉

I would rather limit fps to 30 in MSFS and reduce GPU load that way..

I'd be inclined to get a more capable PSU if the present one I had was borderline capable of running things.

Another option if your looking to save power, would be the power level adjustment. I have used this on my RTX2080 to run it at 120% power with great results. I think it could be used also to turn down to 80-90% to save energy. Just for fun I will try this later to see how much of an impact there is.

Thanks guys. To be clear, my goal is twofold:

- Reducing power consumption because it seems possible without loss of performance

- Making it work with my 600W PSU. All the calculators I used make it seem to be enough. Obviously if I run into issues I will change my PSU for sure, the SFX PSU market is abit scarce at the moment.

Undervolting is quite common. Especially with Mini ITX builds to lower thermals.
